Why would you give up hunting? On 150 acres i'd spot and stalk.

I hope your right and that he is not saying he sneaks onto private property. But I don't see how retrieving dogs is any easier at night. I occasionally hunt at night in the summer when it is to hot to run doing the daytime, always right here on my own private property or on my neighbors private property where I have had written permission to hunt for 20 years, even on this land that I have hunted in daylight for years and that I know very well, it is always much more difficult to retrieve dogs at night than in the daytime.

Maybe I am missing something, or maybe there are regional differences that I don't know about, or maybe I am just very sensitive about the subject because as a landowner I have been fighting trespassers for so long, but anytime the subject of permission to enter is being discussed and the advise given is to go nocturnal, it raises a red flag for me..
