I wouldnt of even taken the picture if that was the case let alone allow it to get on here.

there is a post a few days back of a female following a male possibly the answer but i dont think thats one paw print it could just be he twisted his back foot slightly when he put it down which would leave the enlarged pad print u see in the picture

I get what you guys are saying about one track over the other but I would assume the guy would have walked the track out and verified before posting pictures. Technically all lions have five toes on their front feet, this one would actually be six. Lets not be so quick to criticize.

they step their rear foot into their front track and it looks like that every time.double track all the way. JMO

Maybe this cat had a 5th leg cuz the other 4 were all accounted for before the pic was taken. But hey im pretty new at this so i will bow out and let the real lion gods hash it out.

Am I off on that one? Inbreeding would cause her to be inbred right? I'm from the North so I haven't used the word as much as some folks. LOL

I'm no expert and maybe its just the angle/blurriness of the photo. I'm just looking at the 2nd from the right toe. The left edge of it looks like it has two lines to it and it sure looks a lot bigger than the other "middle" toe. Makes it look like a "second" step was up and to the right.


Not trying to dispute (really I'm not) just trying to say what it looks like to someone that is just seeing the photo.



On the other 5 toe cat track/pad, I'm missing the 5th toe. Is it in between the upper two toes (toes towards the top of the picture)?

I think what some guys are saying is that the left toe is from another print. If you take your finger and cover up that toe, the track doesn't look right at all. That puts the second toe way too close to the edge of the main pad. The left toe should be sticking out past the edge of the main pad. I also assume that the guy that took the picture looked at all the other tracks to make sure it wasn't stepping in its own tracks. But I don't know.

very well stated. it really doesn't matter at all. i think mark found it to be unusual and decided to allow the picture to be posted and shared with all viewers. regardless of what it is....i think that was the original intention for sharing the picture. we all take for granted we live in lion country. i bet there are those folks that live in places like many mid western / eastern states that don't have any and is a treat just to see a normal track.....i suspect if we were legal to run them we would have a close up photo from the south end....lol

Well, however many toes she has I'm sure she's holding up the middle finger to all oregon houndsmen. "ha ha ha, I'm eating all your deer."

I've seen extra toes on domestic cats quite a bit, so who's to say it doesn't happen with the bigger kitties more than we realize. However, this photo looks like one track over another to me.
