I just bought one about 3 months ago and I'm not very impressed with it at all. I am constantly getting the Tracker out to keep up with my dogs. Not many times can I track'em more than 800 yrds before losing signal and have even lost signal as little as 300 yrds. I've been listening to the dogs run around the side of the mtn before and hear the Astro beep telling me it's lost communication with this dog or that dog. It's pretty sorry when you can here all the dogs barking but can't track'em. You don't know how many times I've cut that dam thing off and went back to using the Tracker to keep up with them. The thing works pretty good when its got signal. I guess it all depends on the terrain that you hunt in.

I live in the mountains of Idaho and I have no problem with keeping a signal. If they get about a mile away I strart losing them, then it is time to go to the magnetic antanea, which works very well. I will get a good signal up to three miles away in the mountains and even farther on flat ground. If you do lose signal its more than likely because they have went in to some really heavy timber in a deep draw, it will pick them back up. In the last two years I have yet to drag out the old FL telemetry box, heck I havnt even put those collars on my dogs this year, that is how much confidence I have in the Garmin.
