Emily hit it right on the head.

Though Bobcats are a fur bearer under most state trapping regs they gain the respect of the majority of houndsmen to be consider as big game.

They have earned and deserve to be put in the big game section with other treed big game as the yotes should be put in with running game, IMO

I don't believe bobcat's are big game, for the fact that it's easier to tree bob's than it is to catch yotes. I'm not saying there easy to tree, but they will when tired. A yote at that point of time seems to kick it in the next gear. I do consider them both furbearers and have a respect for both. Just my opinion.

I sure respected the yote that ran 30-50 yards at a time, backtracked 15-20 yards and then went left or right, sometimes continuing on, sometimes justa sittin and watchin my hound go right by. He did this over and over and over. I sure respected my hound each time he made a loss for over three hours as he picked up the track each time. The snow surely told the tale as I checked out why Jake was losen him so often. My brother rolled him after 4 hours, but we never did get him. Stopped huntin his area due to closeness of the highways. Coyotes HAVE to be BIG game cause I can knock em down pretty regularly and everyone that knows me knows I ain't that good a shot  Funny to read the reason folks consider a cat big or small game or a yote a game animal, furbearer, varmint, etc. enjoy, Paul Conway.

THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS POST WAS ASKING BUDDY TO PUT UP A BOBCAT HUNTING SECTION NOT ARGUE IF ITS A BIG GAME OR NOT. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A BOBCAT SECTION JUST AS THEIR A SPECIAL GAME ANIMAL THAT DESERVES ITS OWN SECTION.

we agree that a bobcat section would be nice

Here's what I mean by "respect" :

Few of us think a coyote hunt was successful without a dead yote or two. They may be hard to catch, but the point of catching them is to dispatch them.
Plenty of us think a bobcat hunt is successful as long as the hounds tree the bob and we see it, then leave it to run another day. Don't have to kill it to feel like it was worthwhile.
Does that make them big game? Not necessarily. Plenty of us only kill the coon once in awhile.

Looks like you started this thread with asking for opinions on the matter. No where in the first post starting this thread did it ask Buddy to open a seperate section for them.
I was thinking that their should be a bobcat hunting section in there. As thjere is only a coon and big game hunting section. Bobcat is not either and it should get its own section ???

Acutally buckshot, thats was the first thing he said. He started it in the subject line and finished with the first sentence. I would think there are enough guys who strictly cat hunt to justify one if thats what buddy wanted to do.

I think he stated his opinion rather than asking Buddy to open a section cause he said he THINKS there should be a seperate section. Cause I still don't see him asking Buddy to open one in that first thread.

He finished the thread with a question mark which opened the doors for opinions.

Anybody that wants to talk about bobcat hunting will know where to find the posts, same place they have always been on this board.

He did PM me asking for a separate section for bobcats.

I told him to ask the forum and start a discussion about this. I don't really care either way if there is a good reason, I was watching the posts.

I personally rank them with Big Game, But that is JMO.. But right now there isn't even any posts about Bobcat hunting to justify it's own section. Let's fix that first.. i know that they are pretty tricky and make some good conversations and stories.

I would be more interested in Defining a Cat section and a Bear Section?? But again until there is a need and good discussion about that type of hunting to justify separating them I'm probably not going to worry about it too much.
