Is #40 rare for that part of the country?It is a big cat, but it is not uncommon here in Wi to get #40 cats.We get one over #40 probably every 2-3 years.The guys that can hunt every day probably get at least one #40 a year. I know of a #45 taken last week.I think the state record is #54 or somewhere around there.
I love to get one of those spotted up western cats though.

In Montana 40 pounders are rare. You guys average quite a bit bigger, but man are they bland in color and spots. 35 here is a pig, not the biggest, but pretty hard to top.
