The only problem i see is the puppy pushers and dog peddlers are going to have an easier time unloading there crap on the unsuspecting. Have you thought about what you are going to do when people just keep on making there ad up over and over again to keep it at the top?
If you read the new rules Buddy put up he thought about that as well. I think this will keep the BS down atleast in the Calssified area. As for the p.o.s. dog jockeys we will all need to help eachother out and keep the members upto date using the other areas for that. I would think if we had known dog jockeys on here we could push to get them removed from the site.
He posted the rules after my post was made.

I personally like to read as much info as I can before I make a phone call, including questions others may think of that I don't. I don't see why it's such a big deal for people to sort thru the crap and get to the valuable info. It does'nt take much time, and if you don't like whats being posted, just move on. This stuff ai'nt life or death. Sometimes it gets pretty entertaining when the idiots come out of their dens. You have to be selective in tv viewing, reading material, movies, etc. If you don't like it, don't keep reading! I'm for going back to the original.

I agree that green houndsman will be more likely to get 'took' by a seller/jockey if they're just dealing with the person one on one through PM's.

I appreciate all the comments on this. Both for and against. As always everything about this website comes down to a 50/50 deal. This probably looks no different.
I get called Asshole, Jerk, and Prick by more folks wanting Free Classifieds than any other topic in the last 5 years of so of running this website. All of the work is done in the classifieds That s where most of the rule breaking happens, and unfortunately most of the time they are the least appreciative.
I think this change will not affect much once everyone gets used to it. Yea it's different, and it's never been done that I know of before. If the website flops because of this then I'll probably look at changing it back.
Maybe I'll try and get a different Forum going for classifieds and separate them more, If anyone has some PHP skills and can help me with this I would be interested in Paying (Or better yet maybe I would charge the Classified users) to code this so that you can use one account to access two forums easily and then the Hunters wouldn't have to weed through the Sellers ad, and the sellers wouldn't have hunting talk getting in each others way.

This is a hound discussion board, not a classifieds board. It's not like he did away with the classifieds anyway. It's a pain in the ass when you click "read new posts" and half of them are adds, worse yet, all the dumb questions like where are you, whats your number, how much and btt....Don't like it, go sell it on Craigslist.

i dont think you can just get rid of it, this is a great place for people to find each other to buy and sell there hounds and gear.
maybe just remove the classified from pulling up when you hit view new post, not sure if thats possible but just an idea, might make more people happy. Reading this thread sounds like it is impossible to make everybody happy.
Good Luck Buddyw

Buddy
For us folks that have studs; people like to post and as questions about our hounds and this new idea of yours makes it impossible to reply to our ads. I have never done the bbt thing and never gotten into bs matches...don't have to if you have a nice hound.
Hope you reconsider as no one can post post on my thrend anymore and yes it's a classified because I'm selling a stud service to a nice English dog.
Second you are allowing crooks the license to take those that are just getting started because people can't warn of bad experiences which I think is great. If you have moderators and you see them continually doing the bbt (your pet-peave) warn them then ban them for 30 days first offence and 90 days the second and third time your gone of this website.

I liked it better before the change.
I think you should have two sections for the classifieds, one that people can respond to and one that you cannot. Then you could set it up so when you hit view new post it does not show the classified posts. We do not want to slow down Catdogs
