Re: BILL INTRODUCED TO BAN PURSUIT OF BEAR AND BOBCAT IN CA

My plan and hopes is for "ALL" and I mean "ALL" hound hunters regardless of the game they chose to pursue or state they reside in to join together, Unite As One, put all differences aside and fight for our right to hunt our hounds. American’s are sick and tired of animal rights groups dictating our freedom and lifestyles. This bill is ludicrous and a slap in hound hunters faces! The verbiage in the letter on the Senator’s wed page is obvious that it’s going to start with just hounds. This Senator backed by the HSUS is spreading false propaganda about hunting with hounds and the way hound owners treat their hounds. The Senator’s web page made it a point to write that the senate bill won’t affect Bird Hunters. They want this battle to be with just hound hunters. It’s easier for them to win by picking us off one at a time.
Remember hound hunters, Power is in Numbers! Join your state club, stay active and register to vote. It’s believed that California has thousands of hound hunters and its important each one is or becomes a member of CHC. This battle is going to take some serious leg work from everyone. Joining CHC isn’t going to be enough, but will help. Take notes on the Senators (the ones trying to stop our lifestyles) and vote them out of power. All hound hunters, family members, friends, (non hound hunters that got the pleasure of harvesting a bear or bobcat with the aid of hounds), co-workers, neighbors etc. We need to start educating the public on the HSUS and all anti-freedom groups (animal rights groups). I call them anti freedom groups because they won’t stop until everyone of us is out of the woods and holding each other’s hands singing kumbaya!
It’s time to teach the general public about Facts! Facts are if this bill passes it will end up costing the tax payers of the already broke California millions of lost dollars in lost revenue. I know for a fact that if I can’t run a bear with hounds, I would NEVER buy another bear tag in California.
Let’s educate the unaware citizens of California about the lies these animal rights groups are spreading about hound hunting. Don’t just use the old saying, “it’s our heritage” (even know it is) to hunt with hounds. Let’s use facts. The public needs to know that someone is going to have to manage California’s exploding Bear population whether it’s through outdoor enthusiast like hound hunters, or paid by the tax payers out of the general fund hired hound hunters to do the job (USDA). Fact is wildlife has to be managed.
Remind the deer hunters in your area just how this bill will affect the fawn survival rate. Bears and Bobcats love nothing more than eating every young fawn they can catch. When a bear comes out of hibernation the spring fawns are easy meals. Fawns are still wobbly on their legs and the bears will, and do, run them down and eat them on a regular basis. Just look what kind of toll that Prop 117 (the ban on Mountain Lion Hunting) had on the California deer, and then top that off the passing of Prop 4 (the ban on steel traps). The ban on trapping basically stopped almost all Predator Control work in California with the exception of hound hunters and USDA & ADC hired trappers. Banning Sport Trapping just caused the Coyote population to explode and drop the California Deer herds to an all time low. Banning the use of hound hunting for bears and bobcats would basically just wipeout the California Deer herd’s altogether. Think of the millions of dollars in levy work alone, that the California tax payers has had to pay out, because of banning trapping, forcing sport trappers to only wire cages and not allowing them the appropriate tools necessary to correctly do the job properly. Unable to manage the Beaver and other water creatures has cost tax payers millions. All this wasted money going out to pay for services, that the residents of California should be entitled to do anyhow. The State of California could make millions of dollars in revenue annually just allowing California citizens their freedom back. Think of all the lost revenue to the California rural area businesses. I know I spend thousands of dollars a year on just gasoline alone to hunt my hounds. This isn’t counting all the gear, food, dog food, vet bills, truck repairs etc. etc. Remind the bird hunters in your area just how much bobcats love eating turkeys, chucker, and quail and without management it will affect their hatch rate every year. These aren’t theories, these are facts. Unmanaged wildlife falls subject to disease and forces bears into housing areas looking for food.
Senate Bill (1221) was generated and expedited out of the hatred that Senator T. Lieu and the HSUS has toward Commission Dan Richards because of his out of state legally harvested Mountain Lion hunt. This bill was written out of emotional reactions and emotional reactions are normally not responsible actions. These Animal Rights activists are reacting emotionally without a real understanding, because of their lack of real hands on knowledge. Most of their beliefs are based on emotional ideological theories with no experience to back their theories.
Here are some ideas for some of the houndmen and houndwomen that don’t know where to start with helping out. Start by calling this Senator’s office and let them know your views on this Senate Bill. Also mail them a letter or email them, disapproving this Senate Bill. Tell everyone you know to do the same. Print up some propaganda on this Senate Bill (1221) and post and pass out fliers at all your local feed stores, gun stores, or anywhere they will allow you to spread the word of this bill. It’s clear they are using other states as an example to stop our right to hunt our dogs in California. They clearly point out all the other states that have already lost their right to use hounds to pursue bears or bobcats. It will be your state next. United we stand divided we fall! It’s time to rally up the troops and win this one for the people that still enjoy a free America!
I will leave it at this, If Senator T. Lieu and HSUS and all other likeminded animal right groups have their way, come January 1, 2013 it will be a crime to pursue Bear and Bobcat in the state of California. The reason I’m ending with this sad note is to hopefully light a fire under your feet and get out there and SAVE OUR RIGHT TO USE HOUNDS IN CALIFORNIA! This is as serious as it gets. Let’s get to work.
