Steve, could you find out for me if Garmin would be willing to connect a 320 to a laptop. If and when they ever do I will get rich.

By "connecting to a laptop", what do you mean? They currently can be connected and the tracks of the Astro as well as the dogs tracks, both from the collar and recieved track from the Astro, can be downloaded. Do you mean real time? Just wondering how your gonna get rich off it and could we all get a cut if you do?

I just wish garmin would give me a "truck" unit that has a bigger screen like a turn by turn GPS. Or better yet, the same size as a good sonar unit for the boat. Don't even have an antenna on it, just make it usable with an external one. I'd have one ordered in about 5 seconds.

We talked about this same thing...being able to plug and and link the screen to a navigation or video screen in a truck would be real nice!! I wouldn't imagine it would take a whole lot to do, you wouldn't even have to have input via the screen, just duplicate what is showing up in larger scale!

I WISH IN ADDITION TO WATCHING THE SHOW ON A BIG SCREEN TV FROM HOME AND IN THE TRUCK. IT WOULD ALSO REPRODUCE HOUNDS THAT ARE BETTER THAN THE ONES FROM THE PREVIOUS HUNTS AS THEY PASS ON TO THE HAPPY HUNTING GROUNDS.

I would like to see a bigger screen for the truck as well. That link to the old thread is an option. I did buy the pro version of the topo fusion. have not tried real hard to use with the 320. But the little time I have spent with it. Could not get it to work with the 320. It does work with the 220. But does not give you the same info as the Garmin screen. Unless I have not figured it out completely yet. All gps units. 220/collars are all displayed as the same color. I suppose it is good enough to get you there though. Just wont be able see as much detail per dog at the time. Easy enough to compare to what the astro has recorded I suppose.

What has been bothering me about it. Is having a laptop tough enough to stand the rigors of most hunting, especially bear. I feel the dust we create would just destroy most laptops. The the bouncing around, jarring the crap out of that thing. Then that occasional cup of coffee, etc that might go flying across the cab. I just think most laptops would be destroyed. Now a toughbook would solve that. But that is going to cost some extra dough!

I also have a bit of concern with the monkeying around with the laptop software. While on a hunt. It takes a bit more than just turning on a screen. Would be a lot easier if a external monitor plug was made. I can see it being both good and bad though. The bad mostly bothers me. At least I hate it when guys sit there just watching the TV with the truck running reading the paper in the AC/heat. Then want to be right where the dogs are heading for to see the critter. Turning them, blowing up races, and what makes me really mad. Making it harder for those of us that want to hear what the dogs are doing. Get tired of having to yell, TURN THAT F(&*)&& TRUCK OFF!!! Not sure if it would help or make the safety issue worse. I had to pull a guy out of the ditch 5 times last year. As he went in because of staring at the unit while driving along. I can see that both ways. I can see the whole thing both ways!!
