:D LOL! WE'VE GOT THE SAME PROBLEM HERE IN NEW MEXICO, IT'S USUALLY THE OUTFITTERS THAT GET TERRITORIAL AND CLAIM A MOUNTAIN RANGE. SCREW THEM ALL, WE PAY TAXES, INVEST A FORTUNE INTO OUR SPORT, AND HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE OUT AND ABOUT AS LONG WE ABIDE BY THE LAWS SET FORTH. I'VE HAD MY SHARE OF ENCOUNTERS WITH THESE TYPE OF BOYS AND I LAUGH AT THEM . I WILL CONTINUE TO HUNT THE GOOD AREAS UNTIL THEY SHOW ME A PIECE OF PAPER IN BLACK AND WHITE THAT THEY OWN "THE LAND" ( PUBLIC LAND)
KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, KEEP THE FAITH, AND SCREW THE REST!

If someone wants to lay a complaint there are two things that he better have. One is the FACTS and the other is he damn sure better make sure his backyard is spotless. Life is a bitch when it comes back to bite you on your hiney.
I was fortunate enough to meet and visit with John, and a finer gentleman and houndsman you will ever meet. When you return to Monatana John, I would love to drive down and visit again, and I will.
Cowardice is not a label anyone should carry, but someone in Montana is.

So someone got mad at you for running lions legally in montana i don't understand how this would be a big deal since you can legally do it, any out of state houndsmen can come buy a tag and run all they want its a free country.

Its a territorial thing nobody wants anyone intruding on "their spot"... ALL kinds of hunters have that problem whether its deer hunters, coyote hunters, coon, bobcat, or lion

I was just in Montana as well lion hunting with my dogs.I live in Idaho not far from the border and I can say we do not have the population of cats that Montana has.I believe this to be because of mis management.I went there not to harvest a cat but to run them with my dogs.we can go days over here just trying to find a track to run.makes it hard to train young dogs.we were on average finding 10 or more lions a day in Montana.they have a great management plan.I will be going back and putting my dogs on as many as I cana. I will probably never take a cat in Montana but do enjoy treeing them and being able to train my dogs there.I believe I have every right to do so as all other hunters have the same right to hunt here in Idaho . I know there are some bad apples in every sport but all we can do is try to get along and welcome each other the best we can.I look forward to meeting other hound hunters in my state or yours.

I hunt in the 100 districts there are definately some who think all the cats belong to them.
