Thanks guys, I have had allot of good people chip in money on this one. I would really like to find them to make an example out of them so this kind of stuff is discouraged. I didn't ever find the arrow. He had an obvious star pattern, clean cut from a three blade broadhead through his back and out his guts. I just know where he fell out of the race and I found him dead, I backtracked him and within 200 yards of him dead there was a stand over a wallow, right where my other dogs went through and he fell out of the race.

The type of people who do things like that usually have to tell someone else what a bad ass they are and that's what gets them caught. You probably already know this but keep a eye on the area you lost the dog . When things calm down this jerk will be back in there .It sure is great to see some good guys helping out with the reward .Hope you catch the guy ! Killing a dog is a felony in Oregon ,hope it is in Idaho.

Put a game cam where you found the guys stand. Try to get him if he comes back to hunt that spot or retrieve his stand.
Some states, you have to have a name tag on a stand if left in the woods. Check for that too.
Sadly, a lot of archers hate hounds running through their setup. The hunting community is too divided. Not really a community, more like a bunch of clans that fight with each other. Some peoples true colors really came out here in CA when they banned hounds for Bears and Cats last year. Lots of archers supported the ban.

Don't worry as soon as the bears start hurting the deer population they will be crying just like they are in Oregon, as soon as it effects them then they want management.

First off- That is un fu#$*@g believable. That dirty waste of skin needs an arrow right through their guts while everybody watches and laughs their asses off.
I commend everybody on here who is pitching $ in. Buddy you are admirable for stepping up first. Good luck with the case and sorry for your loss. I hope we as a DOG hunting community never, never, have to here about something this sick ever again.

had the same thing happen with a buddies dog a few years ago cept he shot the dog next to his truck we actually heard the shot and seen the guy minutes after he did it. we didn't know at the time that he shot the dog as we were still gathering up stragglers . he hit the tracking collar and we lost the signal. eventually we put a face on him and took it to the law. nothing came of it. he was a dead beat with no money, was in a borrowed truck and living at his fathers home. needless to say the only option was to break the law and take matters into our own hands,,,,,,,,no laws were broken on our part but the scumbag resides in another area now.....good luck as the law don't seem to put much value on a dog in idaho

I have not heard a thing about this. Haven't given up yet. I hope I at least made a point of it and let the person know its a serious offense to mess with peoples hounds.

It is illegal to shoot a dog in Idaho! This includes the culling of hounds, like some do.

didn't say it was legal just said the local law didn't put any effort into arresting or investigating the issue here. guess they had bigger fish to fry?

It is illegal to cull your own hounds as well. Some people are too quick to cull a hound, either they are to stupid to train it or dont have the patients, not all dogs start out as all stars. One of my best hounds was about a day away from a bullet when I got him about three years ago. Saved the dog and it happens to be one hell of a hound, will do it all but strike. He is a great start dog and one hell of a tree dog, not bad for a walker. LOL.

I would think the clause: "accepted practices of animal identification
and husbandry" would give you authority to kill your own dog.
