Re: Need help building a kennel

i have had 1 dog in 2 years get out. i could not figure out how she was getting out as she was the only one. no digging or anything. so i put her in the kennel and watched from the house. she climbed right up the hog panel and over the top. my recommendation is that if you have a dog that can and does this is to put the hot wire at the top. if you bury the hog panel about 6-8 inches, you shouldn't have any digging problems. maybe fill in with rock but i haven't had one digging problem yet. no hot wire is need at the bottom and i would not recommend one either unless you have a problem. otherwise i have had up to 7 dogs in there at once and no issues. feeding time is a little tricky right at first. i still feed and stand in there until they are all finished. some eat faster than the others and will try to steal some feed. they need to know that is not how it works. you have to be vigilant with females in heat. in fact i won't put an unspayed female in there. had one accident that i didn't see coming and was my fault. i like letting my pups run. builds feet, legs, bonding with others, and keeps them busy and not bored running cirlces on a chain.Well after this thread coming up I just fixed a cow pasture up to be dog proof without a hot wire. Blackpaws you ever have a dog challenge that fence ?
