I have raised 3 males from Dustin, off DrifterXSnapshot. 1 from the first litter and 2 from the second. All 3 made well above average hounds on lions and bears, and some pretty damn good coon and cat dogs as well. They are built like hounds should be, loud mouthed, easy to be around, hard hunting and make great tree dogs. That line has came a long way on big game since I got my 3. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a real deal type of hound. I have several references on these dogs from some well known hunters if any of you are interested in talking with them, just pm me for their info.
Dustin and Jess are some stand up guys, hard hunters and know what a good hound is. I have never spoke with Brian but I believe he is the same type of guy. It would be in your best interest to give this line of hounds a good look. Take care.
REAL DEAL

If you you think for a minute that the light foot dogs are not the real deal i would have to say you are thinking way to long about it because in my opinion they are every thing and more that you hear and read about.
Read the post they are always talking about the dogs not themselves.
I own some and they are not for sale . My brother just got a two year old from Jess and his nephew that was stuck in wisconsin Jess went above & beyond to make sure that my brother got his dog before training season was over which included a approx. 6000. mile round trip.
my brother bought the dog site unseen from a photo and Jess told him what he could expect or in his experience with his hounds what should happen.
We knew the dog had ran a couple bear on its own while coon hunting did not know whether he every saw one or not. my brothers three best dogs had the bear on the ground. We tried to get close to it, it busted out. We didn't let Clyde go in time. So we tried to get close to it again and Clyde struck it off the leash. I cut him loose and he went in and fought with the bear and the other dogs for 8 hours, like he had been doing it all his life. This is a mean bear that we had ran before and he will not tree. All he does is fight. For the first time out on a mean bear I don't think you could ask for any more. The dog lived up to our expectations and more as far as we're concerned. the dog is not for sale.
Jess also brought my father up a pup and she is one of the smartest pups we ever been around.
Jess and them have been working on this line of dogs for years and they are very particular who and what they breed them to but they do have the knowledge it takes to continuously produce and reproduce top of the line hounds second to none in my opinion. look at the pics of the hounds the are practically clones other than color they are some of the most athletic hounds i have ever seen and they back up their looks with brains and tracking / treeing ability. we have just ordered two more.

They sound like good dogs that do good for you. I wish you luck with your two new additions.

I hear a lot of what you just said Second Nature and that is what I was looking for just more feedback on them. My little brother has always wanted a blue dog, maybe we can get him one from Jess later, but I appreciate the feedback, especially when you give me some examples.

I had the same reservations as you when i first heard of these dogs.I new they were good coon dogs and that they did well on lions but by there own admisions it doesnt take much of a dog to tree most lions. But i wanted bear and bobcat dogs and from my experiance they are bear dogs.Im just getting into them but from what i have seen i couldnt ask for much more.As for the guys selling them they are the best bunch of guys i have ever delt with. How many guys do you know would jump in there truck in florida, drive to Wisconsin, pick a dog up,and bring it to Maine just because he promised i would have it before the season and he was having trouble getting it flown?I dont know any.If these dogs were not the real deal they wouldnt try so hard to get these dogs in the hands of real hunters, they would just sell to every Tom ,Dick and Harry and not worry about it,just make a quick buck.I am just a small outfitter from Maine who dosent know alot of people. For them to go thru what they did to get me this dog tells me that they want thier dogs to go to hunters, to heck with promoters.Good luck Scott

I bear hunted with 3 of them lightfoots. Cajun,Gun, and a pup. Cajun was a hell-of-a- rig dog and start dog, Gun was about the same I watched them run hard, tree hard and do what bear dogs are supose to do. Both would bite bear I seen them do it and they had the bear bites from battles in the past. I liked the pup also I would have been happy to own any of them. All I know about jess was that the dogs did what he said they would. I don't know what else you could expect. I really dont care about engish dogs this is just what I saw.

Hey there Brian,
Things are still looking good although I have not been setting him up on this stuff just letting it start naturally,no roll cages or the like.Mostly been trying to teach him some simple commands,,letting him be a puppy and alot of exposure to everything I can give him, from water to ATVs and powersaws. So far so good it's working well.He seems to have finnally turned his brain on and is picking stuff up fast now and has started getting to get alot more independant and is willing to move out on his own and look at the world!Time to start him on a collar though.Soon it will be time to buddy him up in the box with the big boys and get this show on the road.He has really taken to one of my Black & Tans so think that link will help him get started right in the box and on the ground. He's a little sensitive and as such tough to really discipline for things like being too noisy in the yard but will wait that out and let him grow up a bit before I get too tough on him. Can't wait for new snow and a new season, the way things are starting to look around here I may be in a spot to come and hunt with you this year...at last. What do you think?

Thought you guys may want to see this picture. We caught this problem cougar on the 21st of Oct/08. Don't usually see these big boys causing problems. Its usually the young ones or the old but pretty awesome to see such a fine cat in the tree. 173lbs. The race sounded like a bear race, fast and loud.

The dogs are all Lightfoot dogs.
