X2.

I am surprised how much ear he has. He came down on the hound side big time. Beautiful.

Out of curiousity was the sire or dam the hound and how much hound?

I was hoping mine would end up about that big lol (Jag was sire on mine), of course jags are a bit bigger though.

The terrier was a bigger dog. About 25 lbs. And the dam was the hound. She runs about 50 lbs. She's full hound just mixed. Plott, redbone, walker, bluetick, and bnt.

Its not wholly scientific on my part but the female seems to control size to a large extent. With exceptions made in single or two pups to a small female or a large female with 13+ pups from a smaller male. Ofcourse average breed size plays a major role but individual parent size and sex is another factor. As a side note I spent two days trying to get to the bottom of the possible effect a surrogate dam has on her offspring. I apparently was wrong. I didn't think it would be much or last into adulthood. According to the studies it seems a surrogate mother definitely impacts both birth and terminal size. Among some other less definable traits. Most of the studies where in equines and livestock. After reading them I can only assume its due to the transfer of growth horomones and the ability of the mother to provide more nutrition and room for growth.

Was wondering when I saw this what would you all say that a terrier mix with a hound would have that a pure hound would not

You know, good question, that's why I have one lol.
I'm not sure there is but it sounded interesting and I'd like to see how he turns out.
There used to be lots of hound x terriers hunting big game in the west, generally Airedale crosses back then, there used to be lots of shepherd crosses too.
Why there really isn't now is debatable.

Well now that I think about it I seam to remember reading that Airdrie blood was put in the hound x for Bear and cat for fight and smarts that the pure hounds did not have but every thing I have read says the old hunting Airdrie blood has about died out
