Glad you piped in there an sort of staightened the matter out. Hmm old Rooster? Gene Hicks and I talk a while back about some of them old dogs going back to the
Gossetts and old Tenn. Thunder never really got all he was up to. I sure made a lot of tracks following one of his sons thru the Dakotas,. Montana, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico and Oklahoma. ooked up into trees with fur in all places.

Glad you are still out here following those old black dog.

kEN,
There is no doubt that those dogs came from your place. and i have talked in great detail with others about those dogs as well kim and kellys dogs. i already have a dog that is bred to the scout and belle dog that carl bettis had(that came from you) that was bred back to the brandy dog of kendall wilsons that was a straight okie sue cross. and i have a dog from your place about four years ago. i made that cross and have had great success. which leads me back to my original question. does anybody have some of the older lines that are closer than that? im looking to stack that bloodline and need the next cross. no insult to you as i have already explored a dog from your place with complete satisfaction. the statement made by cdh had me thinking i might have missed some other options or not? it just seemed to me that bud was very selective of who got a dog from his place and that line of his (some from you) was not spred around. finally no doubt about it bud hunted a dog to its fullest potential and knew how to train a dog.

You need to talk to Wayne Hutchings as Ken mentioned Blackeye, he's been the heir to his dad's old bloodlines. If anybody would know, he would.

I don't know what Kim and Kelly have anymore from Bud's dogs, from what I understand they don't hound hunt as hard as they used to. I had a rare female a number of years ago that traced back to the Oakey/Sue cross. Kim and Kelly were excited to breed her back into some of their dogs, but for whatever reason the cross didn't work. I don't know whether any of the pups ever turned out to pass on their genes.

Other than Wayne, I don't know of anybody else trying to stay true to Bud's old lines.

Thats kinda what i though that old line of dogs is really sparse. I know that kelly doesnt even own a dog now and kim has a few but rarely if ever hunts them. They brought in a different female to breed to and i didnt like the dogs from that cross. Wayne is very tight mouthed and seems very reserved to the balance of houndmen he must have been burned a few times i guess? The old dog i found a few years back even blew tony and carl bettis away, that dog was alive being it was so close to the old lines. I just thought that i would try to find another dog close to the same blood as those lines were such good dogs for all those guys. you never know what you can find on these forums. seems the true old lines arent tied out in everybodys back yard. or they are quite a few generations away(who knows what you got then). still looking, if you here something let me know. thanks.
