Ike these stories remind me of aa hunt this winter where I took a long time friend out who had moved to my area to work with me. I put up a nice tom not a hog by my standards but a 4 or 5 year old 160 to 175 # cat, I waited at the tree for an hour before pulling the dogs and heading for the truck. Walking back to the truck there was my buddy sitting on the side of the road waiting for me. I won't get in to his excuses but about a month later my 12 year old son set him straight. Colton said "you know my dad will never take you hunting again unless you really earn it. You didn't desierve to shoot that cat anyways, this was your first hunt!!!" That right there made me reconsider taking friends out.

Yup, I stay to myself and have all but stopped loading any hounddoggers up during lion season. I still take a few close friends that don't feed hounds but that is about the size of it. What is the old saying? "fool me once and shame on you, fool me twice and shame on me!" Reading that ethics thing the other day over on the general forum made me stop and understand why I've gotten to where I am in life, and that is visit with people when I can but hunt alone.........

We're not really hunters, we are houndsmen. I'm jealous here in CA but I'm saving up for my Nevada tags and hope to run some cats
this spring. All the positive sentiments and statements on this post are what is needed to continue the legacy of our beloved sport

Well Pete, with Nevada right there next door I'd sure jump in your truck and get after a lion or two if it were me......as they say, you gotta love it!

best of luck,
