Went out last weekend and hit some hot tracks and chased 2, after 4:30 that evening I had to go tie up some land I was purchasing and my buddies went back out to look for the last 3 dogs that were still out there and saw 7 bears in a little area. The next day they saw 5 in a little area. We have SO many damn bears in our area its nuts. My buddy saw 4 one day just going to the dump that he drove almost right up next to and they didnt run. Also I have a LOT of land to hunt so that helps. Back to Ike's dogs. Do you have a pretty big area to hunt Ike? And how many lions do you think there are in the area you hunt?

Buchnaze......the lions had been thinned out over recent years because of harvest objective, over the counter type hunting, but for some reason their numbers seem to be rebounding a little. There are lion units in every direction fro where I live but a guy doesn't want to think finding them on dry ground is easy. Some of the areas have that fluffly sand (like the Books and San Juan) and anybody can find a lion track that goes and looks, but in the higher country lions are spread out and thinner with hard clay type soil and cutting tracks gets tougher. But like I said, those red dogs will about always strike a lion track spring, summer or fall.........
Bigboarstopper........I already have a list of names from guys wanting pups, and they may all well be spoken for. I'll just have to wait and see who stands up when the time comes or who bails. As for price, I've told them all $300 bucks cause it's hard for me to think a pup is worth more than that from anybodys dogs. This was a first time cross and time will only tell how they come out....but like I said, all of the dogs in their background have been pretty damn good hunting dogs--and if rigging is a bred in trait, and if Choco passes that on, and if I knew that for sure I'd keep them all........

Ike, not sure where you hunt, but because of the Lion study on the Uncompahgre Plateau, their is a population explosion going on there. Estimates are triple what used to be there. Some of their dispersal must surely be coming your way by now.

I think I am closer to the Umcompahgre than Ike is so I want some of them lions to come down my way. I think they try to come over here and every time they do Liontracker and them dang blue dogs of his chase them north. LOL!

Just curious what color you think those reddish/tan pups will end up being ? It looks like they have some black starting to come out in them, Do you think they will all end up high tans. Just Curious.
I have a litter out of my Redbone and one of my Walkers (white cloud x sacket) They look very similar. A few for sure will be high tans, but not sure about the ones that look like yours that have that red color with the black tails and some black coming out on the back as hi lights.
Anyway nice looking pups you have there Ike, hope they turn out like you want them to. Im excited about mine too, Im keeping 3 of mine
