complete with maps of the kill sites and the area they suggest you should avoid although it doesn't make any difference because they are starting to move thier pups around now so they could be anywhere inside thier territory on any given day. plus i dont think it matters anyways because they will come to the sound of your dogs and try to pick off stragglers if they can regardless of if you are near a rendezvous site or not.

the official dnr site is usually a couple days behind and i imagine doesnt give a totally accurate count since some guys either dont bother reporting, or can't find the dog (whats left of it) to report it or dont want to wait the sometimes 5-8 hours it takes for the usda trapper guy to come to verify the kill. the number to call in case this happens is 1-800-228-1368 (USDA wisconsin office).

by indian creek. last year i had a dozen of them or so start howling right after i got out of the woods. They had of been at the tree i just walked out of.

i hunt in indian creek. right next to clam falls. I hunt about two miles from there. I haven't heard anyone loosing dogs directly to wolves but thats where were guessing the two plotts went because theres plenty of houses around, where people should be able to see them

Did anyone else see the article in the Journal Sentinal about wolves by Neil Rosenberg, what an idiot, he basically says that we should all keep our dogs in sight or sound because and I qoute "The chances of a wolf attack on a dog that is in sight or sound of its owner are rare to unimaginable." Let me tell you how my dog was killed last year, 50 yards from me, the road and my truck. I heard the whole thing and no amount of yelling stopped the killing. He does recomend putting bells on your dog as this will scare away all wildlife, yea my dog was wearing a bell, I could hear the bell as the wolves were dragging her away from me to protect their kill. He should also check with the dachsund who was grabbed from a yard and killed if being in sight and sound of people helped. This is exactly the pro wolf crap this paper feeds everyone in the southern half of the state and why people around here think wolves are great and how dare we want to kill them. It will take a child being killed to change peoples opinion and it WILL happen. Everyone should flood this idiots mailbox with letters to the editor or this pro wolf crap won't stop. As the deer population continues to plumet the dog attacks will go up along with attacks on everything. The dnr puts the population at around 500, ok stop laughing, there is closer to 1000-1500 if not more. They couldnt even estimate the bear population any where near actual. They undershot those estimates by 20,000 or more, makes you wonder how many wolves there really is out there.

People often say to me it's our own fault that our dogs are getting killed or injured by wolves and that we should not run where the wolves are.

Well let's look at things here. In 2007 24 wolves and one hybrid were live captured and fitted with radio collars from 22 different packs. In total 73 pure and 2 hybrids were monitored for the study. The mean territory size per adult wolf was 30.5 square miles with 6499 square miles of the state was estimated to be occupied by territorial wolves. With 144 packs and 24 loners. Wolves were observed in 50 of the 72 counties of the state.

one dog killed by wolves last saturday east of Danbury. i wonder if there hasnt been any other ones, or the DNR is just dragging thier feet reporting them because there were so many the first week and the media picked up on it so fast and caused too big of a commotion?

Another hound killed in Clark county WI today. West of Neillsville just north of Highway 10. That's three seperate packs in Clark county that have killed dogs in less than four weeks of training season!!!!!!

Does anyone know whose dog was killed in Clark County on the 26th?

I was with Davd when the timbers got the dog . Mine luckily dropped out just before his crossed the road, its to bad the good ones get taken for just doing what they are trained to do WCCN RADIO news has interview from me after Davids dog died. I tried to cover all aspects of bear hunting.
