my father inlaw bought out the riding part of nimrod and made what we think are some improvements to the system. the stuff is really tough to beat and he also makes some quarter bags that will fit a moose quarter in it and all 4 of the bags weigh less than a pound. they are extreemly strong and breathable. they are really nice to pack into the wilderness with you.

Deffinatly NIMROD packs. Nimrod is a bibilogical term for mighty hunter fyi. My dad is a good friend of the people who own nimrod. I just recently saw them for the first time since I was a peep squick. And they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet... just my .02 cents on packs.

Any particular model of badlands that carries a tracking directional antenna well? I always get mine hung up in brush...

i guide alot and also sheep hunt i put on anywhere from 2-12 miles in a day sheep hunting,i have an crooked horn extreme outfitter 2 i love it it is very comfy but do not like the way the gun sits on the pack,have also an external frame and moose bag from cabela's alaskan guide model, i also own a eberlestock j104 and you could not pry it out of my dead hands, in my opinion the best pack i have ever owned.

I recently got a "mini-me" from Eberlistock. I used to use a full size internal frame pack and it was just too big for me to cat hunt with. If I have room in my pack, I'll fill it. The mini-me is expandable and will carry a bobcat comfortably, but is just the right size to carry the essentials day to day. The removable scabbard is nice and will accomodate most any gun.

How would a scoped 22 fit in the scabbard of the mini-me? Would it be pretty sloppy?

I actually carry a scoped Ruger 10/22 in mine most all the time. Mine has a target barrel on it and it fits really well. Not too much slop, but not too tight either. I would recommend the "hood" that fits over the scabbard to keep the snow out. I don't have one and I have to take out the gun and dry it each time I get home. I know that I don't need to have a target barrel for shooting a bobcat at 10 ot 15 yards, but it's what I have so it's what I use.

You really need several packs depending on what and where your hunting. I use an Eberlstock pack for cat hunting but would never consider that pack for any of my Alaska hunts. I've got three packs up there, all the freighter frame type for hauling heavy loads. If your packing out meat, it is a must to have a well constructed frame with the self. I've seen cheap imitations not even make one load and they are bent and broken. Moose quarters are 125-160lbs each so you have to cut those in half. Then it is still 10 trips to get a moose cape, antlers and 8 trips of meat out of the bush. I had to pack a brown bear out 2 years ago. The hide squared 10'10" and weighed around 175lbs. Only had to go less then a half mile to a place we could land but it about killed me. Not fun if your pack isn't the best money can buy and it isn't adjusted and fits you correctly.
For cat hunting, I certainly don't need a freighter frame pack since we split up the hide and meat amongst 3-4 guys and you don't even know you have a load. All these packs mentioned are good quality packs, just look at all of them and figure out what suits your needs the best.
