I got a kick out of looking at that old photo of Bill and the horse. Horse must have been camera shy cuz Bill has the blind pulled down on his headstall. LOL!

For those that don't know what that is it is a wide browband on a bridle or hackamore that allows you to slide it down and sort of blind the horse and he will stay still until you get settled in the saddle and ready. But hang on when you raises the blind he could go sky high! LOL!

You are right, Dr Whitney was a vet in Conn.Never heard of him having hounds.
Never heard of anyone in New England, interested in French hounds . I researched them and was the American Rep for the Gran Bleu/Saint. assoc in Paris.

I have researched Dr. Leon Whitney some. He was a friend of Bill's. He was more than just a vet. He was a canine geneticist. He wrote several books. He developed 4 breeds of dogs. One of them was the recreated Normandy hound and there is a picture of them in his book "How to Breed dogs". They look like white bloodhounds. In an old French hound book there is a chapter dedicated to how to recreate this breed of hound. The foundation was the Gascon Saintongeois.

To answer Mike's question, in his first post on this thread, I have been told by several people that Bill Green did consult Dr. Leon Whitney for advise on breeding his hounds. This advice would appear to be Bill's basis for using the white hounds,(Gascon Saintongeois) in his pics and videos, for breeding. Where Bill got them from is still a mystery.
