Bearclaw, Thanks for the picture. now see what I mean... that picture makes me smile!
Floyd is out of Maggie. I am guessing your name has a J or two in it somewhere?
That is hilarious to me that I keyed in on the description of your dog. You sure got him looking good and all ripped with lots of miles and mountains.
You asked about Missy, the Jet female. I gave her up because I could not get her in the woods and it was driving me crazy. She went to the man that had owned her mother and has a littermate brother and sister to her. He took her sister to the world show or something like that. Missy is put together just the same. I could stare at her mezmerized until somebody slapped me. (Pretty sick when I am talking about a dog, ha ha )
Thanks again for the picture.

David, hey I bred Floyd to my fastest walker bitch Sitka. I have nine pups on the ground and ready to go. I think that they will make excellent bobcat dogs if anybodys interested. The mother of these pups has been on a few bobcats and done a good job. Havent been able to put her on a lot because of the lack of bobcats. A littermate sister to her has been stacking them up in oregon. If I remember right she had caught over forty in one season. I think they will make some nice bob dogs if given the chance. Let me know if you know of anybody that might be interested. Sitka goes back to some heavy Neosho River and Finley river breeding. Were going to keep three maybe four so there will be some available.

Sure would like to see a picture of that male myself. I went down and got Maggie for David and had her sister Heidi also. I wouldn't mind getting to see a picture of your pups also if you've got some. I'll be over at J. P. this winter again if your around. Take care. Dan

I have hunted with many differant types of curs on bobcat. the man who broke me in hunting dogs would hunt nothing but curs, his mane dog of choice was the treeing brindle and he did very well with them.

David! So glad u still around! As far as curs and cats I'm with david on this after years and years of failing I started hunt with a few leps and started seeing cats, but I don't feel they are the end all dog either, bobs got the devil on their side, and what works today may not come anywhere working tomarrow,it takes a mixed bag, seldom is it done truck to tree consitantly with 1 dog,u have to have as big a bag of tricks as the devil supplys bobs,be that a smokin hot cur that will catch on the ground, and squirl hunt the demon when they tree hope,or a cold trailer (ain't as good a speller as David),if u truely are a cat hunter and truely eat sleep and breath cat hunting you quickly loose all predjudiceis about dogs,I've said it before ill say it again,if I thought a standerd poodle would help catch cats id have one,I'm hitting the season with 2 green leps,1 way colder nosed than the other, but that don't mean there won't b a hound out there too by end of season, but yes a cur will use way more of their gifts than most hounds do,but that just makes them another suprise for ol bob

Thought I would pull these two posts together a bit. If I am not mistaken, one of the first, if not the first Leopard that LCK owned was a pup from Heidi, Maggies littermate sister. That was sure a fine looking little female. I was jealous. Is that female still around LCK? I think her name was "Bitty".

David- Close...Bitty is out of Doc and Maggie (Speed X Kate), but LCK does have a male that is out of Boone (Buddy X Heidi) bred to Rachel sister (Gabby). You should ask him how that dog has been doing. It sounds to me like that dog is knocking it out of the park on bear. I talked to Adam to see how Boone is doing and it seems like Boone is not only doing a good job on bear, Adam has been scorching the coon lately. They've got great hair, super endurence and some crazy speed. I'd like to see some of them get put on cats and see how their locating is.

boy, I dont know how I could have gotten that wrong. I have a memory like a steel trap... one that has rusted shut about 30 years ago.
Anyway I just like that mix Bearclaw has come up with. If I was working dogs, I sure would want to try one. IF things fall together right that good walker blood should make up for any lacking in the cur blood, and the cur blood should make up for the lacking in the walker blood. Hows that for some amazingly technical bobcat dog breeding theory? I just know my most favoritest and most lethalest dogs for bobcat had both hound and cur blood.
Now here we go with my memory again. Bearclaw, you could fill us in on those pups family tree. I am thinking that Floyd's dad was a Kemmer/hound cross, I am wishing I could remember the hound and the line of Kemmers. I thought the Kemmer was Darryl Fry bred. Then Floyds mom was a direct daughter of Wicks camo jug, who also is a mixture of cur and hound. I have hunted bobcats succesfully with all those breeds. I have seen Kemmers actually stop cats on the ground. I have seen Jug dogs do it also. One of my most reliable, hard working dogs ever was a Kemmer/hound cross.
Then, On the bottom side of your new pups, sounds like you got some awful goood Walker blood. I dont know much about the Neosho blood, but I know that Finely River blood was sure proven on the west coast bobcats with dogs such as Waltons Pewee, Barnes Babe, and Skillmans Mike. I sure hope you can get some pups to some hard hunting bobcat hunters. I cant help but feel they will make good ones.
