Close to me they put in a 1800 arce Apple Orchard and the org. land had a 40-60 year old very heavy Hardwood Stand with alot of hickory (15' deep Single tap Root) They log the whole area bare ... Anyway they used 2 D8s side by side each with dbl Rippers and they just Plowed the whole 1800 arces 8'-10' dia. Root balls would roll out of the ground like turnips "It was something to watch" !!
I also watched some Clear land in South Texas with 2 - D8s and a Huge Ripper Chain connected two both
