Damn you people

I told myself I would not get into this...
I look at it this way.. Having dogs on gravel roads in more then what we have now.. You are all saying.. What if you get caught.. Well.. you CAN'T have dogs in the woods AT ALL right now (during the bird nesting months) I would rather take this and be able to exersize my dogs on the roads rather then if I take them out then I'm going to get a bird nesting ticket for roading my dogs... And I hate looking at them in the kennels during those months..
Do I think we should be able to have a year round training/pursuit season.. Bet your ass I do.. We are one of only... 3.. 4 states (I looked this up about 2 years ago) that does not have a year round pursuit for raccoon.. As far as I can remember, there was no year round for bobcat.. If there is a state.. then, sorry, I can't remember it right this second..
I think we should take this and THEN work on more rather then saying.. Nope.. You will let us have this, but I want this instead.. Maybe it's because I'm the type of personality that says.. I'm offering you this and it's not good enough.. F- you then.. You don't get nothing

No it's not fair about the agents..But it is what it is right at this moment.. It is something that needs changed.. I know everyone wants results right now.. But... realistically, in this state, do you really think that is going to happen?... Would I like to see this all changed right now.. For sure.. I hate taking things slow... but.. Steps.. I think it needs to be done in steps..
All right.. Throw your stones...

Melanie, that is exactly right, we all need to remember what State we live in and a small step in the right direction is alot better then what we've had in the past 15 years. I would also add if we could ever get organized and United on an issue we might stand a half a chance at getting something done. So if any of you are not members of OUSDA you should be. It might not be much but it is you start. If you aren't you really don't have a right to bitch. SO get involved...

Ok im done with all of this. Have fun and when the shit hits the fan...... and it will...... just remember that YOU decided not to fight for equal rights, and when your buddy with bird dogs is out HUNTING without a care in the world and you are looking over your shoulder to see if ol johny law is around, just embrase that feeling of knowing that your dogs are no different then thiers but, they were at these meetings in full force pushing for MORE and YOU decided that roading a dog is good enough for not just you but for all of us. Good luck to everyone hunting this season, I am done trying to convince every single person. I promise a time will come when you will be Knowing you should have taken a stand. I ask one last question. When will the time come for our fight? When will we have a better oppertunity then right now when they are rewriting the laws and they leave the door wide open for us to come in and fight for what is right? I believe its time to either shit or get off the pot, and like the guy said to melanies post, "either you get involved or quit your bitching" and i promise you that i am as involved as a person can get.

sadly enough i just recieved a conformation from rep. sherrie sprengers office....here is what the OREGON UNITED SPORTING DOG PROPOSED TO THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE....NOT A DAMN THING...WHAT EVER YOU WANT TO GIVE US WE WILL TAKE....EVEN IF YOU RESTRICT US AND GIVE FULL RANGE OF LATTITUDE TO THE BIRD DOG FOLKS... HERE IS THE QUOTE DIRECTLY FROM THE STATE CAPITOL....
representative sprenger has contacted the head of odfw to share your concerns and gain some insight into the situation since this was the first we had heard about these rules....he said the main intent was to bring some consistency to the exhisting rules.
THE DIRECTOR HAS MET SPECIFICALLY WITH THE BOARD AND LEADERSHIP OF THE UNITED SPORTING DOG ASSOCIATION AND THEY DID ......NOTTTTTT.......HAVE ANY RECOMENDATIONS AND WERE HAPPY WITH THE PROPOSED RULES AS IT GAVE THEM A WAY TO EXERCISE AND WORK THEIR DOGS IN THE SPRING AND EARLY SUMMER THAT IS CURRENTLY PROHIBITED.
MAYBE I CAN'T READ BUT IF ONE OF THESE TWO STATE AGENCIES ISN'T BULLSHITTING....THAN ALL OUSDA ASKED FOR WAS NOTHING...OR WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE US WE WILL ACCEPT...EVEN THE TICKETS....I'M WITH MARSHALL....YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE...ONCE THIS IS BLOWN THERE WILL BE NO OTHER CHANCES FOR REDEMPTION....HAVE FUN MAKING UP LIES ABOUT WHAT YOU AND YOUR DOGS ARE DOING....YOU CAN ALREADY SEE HOW EASY THE SELL IS GOING TO BE FOR ANGLIN TO GO IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION.

We don't have to say thank you to the state. We need to be screamin for what we want. How exactly do you keep your dogs on a gravel road, seriously??? Sounds like we just get what we get. I'm for the lawsuit if it will matter. Thank you to all the poeple working to make it better.
Why don't we ask them to just change the law to make it outside of their jusisdiction. Like its not hunting unless you actually shoot something. Problem over. Training not involving the taking of game is not hunting, its training the dogs and should not be regulated. Everyone should be able to take their dogs out and do whatever they want if they are not hurting anything. Your poodle can chase squirels, retreiver can fetch sticks whatever. We are not hurting anything. Just because its really hard to bust a houndsman doing something wrong doesn't make it right to take away his freedoms. PERIOD! Punishing all houndsmen by taking away their God given right to PURSUE happiness is not the answer to the crimes of a few houndsmen. As it stands now, the rules are so strict that we have effectively all been made criminals. That is my platform.

Every thing comes a step at a time. The DFG is on our side if we don't piss them off. Ask for what you want, supply the information why and don't demand or try to intimidate. We have come a long ways don't blow it now. We are close to getting some kind of pilot program on lion. We have the left hand and the right hand what works is something in the middle. There is a lot of people out there that want no hounds in the woods. By following this there is a few people out there that can't see past there on thinking. Dewey

understood dewey....i do honestly hear what you are saying....how hard would it have been to just ask for equal treatment? i know we are to blame for messing this up to begin with...i take responability for my actions....don't you agree if we don't at least ask.... we get what they give us....you know full good and well we will mess this up sooner than later....small forward steps are good...not when we take a few steps backwards...when we do it is over sir....you been around the block dewey we have had these conversations and you know full good and well if given the chance to become the new law will bite us....
what and how do we resolve this...i'm not wanting or willing to go on fighting..i just know as you do too how hound hunters think and act...if i could place a bet in vegas i would hock the farm and put every penny in on this...please explain to me a way around the direction we are heading...i know the pilot progam is coming soon how do we advance as a group...this is so close to the real deal for all of us but with high stakes attached....i can't be any more honest dewey....thank you for posting your thoughts...feel free to call any time..i will discuss any thing at any time....you got an angle...i'm all ears....i'm looking at sitting in at the capitol the day all this comes to the floor....mike 541-367-1009

Jimmy; They say ignorance is bliss, you must be the most bliss person I know. People like you that dont know what they are talking about they cause everyone a lot of problems. I don't think I know you but I know the type. I may not agree with Mike but at let he is trying to do something and is willing to listen to people. Most everyone has a right to be heard. The only way that people will listen to them is if they have something to say. Dewey

guys.... for obvious reasons i'm not going to post anything on here from here on out...all the points pro and con have been addressed.....nothing good can come of continuing down this same path.....we need to remember one thing...we...100% of us own hounds and share the same values in common...the passion for the sport....back and forth jabs only fractures our infastructrure all the more....hunting season is on and i have dedicated way more time than i should...the message is out... we got it....i know they now get it too....rational dialog....being civil will more apt to prevail....now lets rock the outcome....merry christmas and and happy "cat card filled" new year to each and every sportsman out there....special thanks to buddy for allowing the ability for all to have a place to vent...you are a man to be respected.....adios...mike

I'm either going to be thanked for giving a place to vent and talk and organize.. or This site will be to blame for giving the rope to hang ourselves and will be the End of Hound hunting....
I'm not sure which. Time will tell.
Happy hunting..

Ok guys this thread has run its course for sure. I am at as much fault for the bickering as anyone so im not going to say anything to anyone about that. I had the oppertunity to talk to dewey and don today to get a better perspective of things, I can tell you that i am not so stressed out now

. They were real straight forward with me and i respect them for that. We all want the same thing and that is a given, after today i think we can reach common ground on how to go about it all. Dewey, Don, thank you guys for taking the time to talk to me today, I very much apreciate it and i can tell you i will not be so quick to assume things in the future. Thanks again guys now lets all go hunting and have a good time.
