The DFG's published langauge for overturning the current restrictions on garmins and tree switches is strong and from what I have read, there is really no reason why we won't get these privliges at some point in the coming year. I posted a link to the DFG website several months back which showed the DFG support for legalizing the switches and garmins.

I guess i understand the want for gps but i dont understand the treein switches. seems like it kinda takes away from listening to your dogs and knowing the differences between barks such as bay bark and treed bark.

I liked tree switches back when I used to bear hunt. Because the dogs would get on a bear and go "out of the world" on it and it was nice to know if they were treed or not when they were out of hearing. But since I don't bear hunt anymore (and the switches have since been banned) I don't care if I can use a collar with a tree switch or not.

tree switches are only useful if you can't hear your dogs for some reason. Obviously if a guy can hear the dogs, you should be able to tell if they are treed or not just by the barking.
