It's been about seven years since I got on a bull, but here's a few from my PRCA days.

Randy,
Why don't you go on ahead and give him the boots? Nice picture, thanks for adding them.

Lineman, I don't remember a Goss. I spent most of my career in the west up until I made the Built Ford Tough Tour. In fact I only worked Ca, Nv, Or and Wa till after I made the NFR the first time. After that I worked my first Texas rodeo then made BFT tour. Been to alot of states since then but haven't meet many bull riders or bullfighters unless they've made the tour.

That's one thing I miss about rodeo. We got to see alot more country and see more things. The only thing we didn't see alot of was home. For that I don't miss the rodeo. If y'all are ever coming to a PBR BFT event let me know. I always love to meet my fellow houndsmen if possible. Our schedule is tight but I can usually find some time to visit.

I follow the PBR built ford tuff series and watch it all the time and made sacramento this year. It's nice to see rodeo and the PBR'S progress over the years. Keep all the stories and picture's coming I hope everyone enjoy's them as much as I do. We got a mutual friend (Shane Gordon) that's mentioned you a few times Shorty, knowing that you were a fellow houndsmen. You probably have saved his butt a few time's. Well Take care, Dj

Do any of you fellows remember a former California bull rider named Frank Brancato? If so, he is presently undergoing chemo and radiation treatments for throat cancer and is in pretty serious condition.

Spent quite a bit of time in California at rodeos but that name doesn't ring a bell, that's a tough deal hope he pulls through.
Thanks Shorty, nothin feels better than lettin the air outta one away from your hand. You probably recognize that bullfighter in my second pic.

Rimrock I don't recognize the name either. My thoughts and prayers are with him though. Thats a tough deal to say the least.

ColdTrack that was the first thing I noticed. Must be natural for me to look for bullfighters in the background. Ol' Smets looks pretty young there. That's post broken neck days, he started wearing the tie when he came back.

Shorty if you see smets anytime soon ask him what he thinks about Frank Beards old bull Cuddles. He cuddled smets in the amatuers so many times and frank would laugh.I lived with and "test piloted" alot of bareback horses for Frank.Steve Katich and the Big Red Knection are good friends. My brother lived with Steve and Carlene for a while ,when he was dating one of Steves daughters.

I'll do it. I think I've heard stories of that bull. With a name like cuddles who'd think he was mean???

I love watching PBR BFT series.
Like Strawberry Mt, I like watching the bulls and who is breeding what bloodlines and such. I guess that comes from sitting with Gene Smith and listening to him talk bloodlines. Some of the bulls that have been on tour, my brothers and I bucked out as 2 year olds at Gene's place. Or rode them in Sumas, Sedro Wooley, and Darrington when Gene was still hauling bulls to small shows.
Gene always knew he had the kind of bulls to make the tour, and they were winning futurities as 2 year olds and such. Some of the best bulls Mike Corey has came from Gene's stuff. How Mike came to own those bloodlines and have them on the tour can be a discussion saved for another day. Ace of Hearts was born on Gene's place. I never could hang with any of those bulls for more then a couple seconds when they were young. So there isn't any way I would have been able to stick a bull on the tour.
There was a day when I rode a bull named Bean in a show in Monroe, WA, and the following weekend Bean was at the PBR show in Portland, OR.

Shorty, are you working the PBR event in Chilliwack BC that is coming up?

No poundhound I won't be there. Due to my family and hunting I work only the BFT events. The only other one I do is the Ross Coleman Inventational in Molalla, Or.

Mike Corey is also an ol' houndsmen. His childhood hero was Ben Lilly. He had a bull named Ben Lilly a few years back that was pretty good. Mike has a pup at my place that is waiting for warmer weather to be shipped to him. You can bet when Mike and I get together we don't talk about bulls. It's pretty funny actually, everyone else just walks away. I guess they know we'll be there for awhile and we won't be talking about bull riding.
