Your not kidding shaftum. I went up yesterday afternoon looking for a lost dog. I thought to myself, I may as well take the dogs. Well I never did find the dog and on the way out I had a HARD strike where a bear had crossed after I drove by. Well that little tick plott was going nuts and broke the chain on my rig and was gone......this was 8:30 last night and no tracking collar. Last I heard of her she was giving it to that bear. All and all...now I am out two dogs instead of one.
I should be able to pick Tick up tonight on the road (i hope) She is only 10 months so maybe she won't go to far...then again maybe she will.....
Yet another moment of shining brilliance on my part...who puts the dogs on the rig without a collar?
KevinD:I was up in Logan around 2000. I ran hurdles a bit for the Aggies. I like that area other than there are a lot more people up there roaming around the mountians than I am used to! Congrats on the catch. Any pictures yet? That's not many bears at all for that much country. Is the population growing at all?
A pic of another bear:

Good luck BGH

It sounds like you're finding some bears BGH, and that's what it is all about. Good luck picking up those two dogs..........

Hope you get your dogs found BGH. I'm usually pretty good at keeping tracking collars on my dogs. Remembering to pull the magnets, well that's another story.......
The year 2000 was about the time that the Cache was the only Harvest Objective unit in the northern part of the state......so yeah, it was pretty crazy around here then. It can still be a little conjested early in the lion season, but it isn't nearly as bad as it was.
The bear pictures never turned out as well as I had hoped........just a pine tree with a dark spot in it that is hardly recognizable as a bear. Oh well, we'll do better on the next one. Congrats on your successes.

Caught this one this morning. It was a long fast race with only a half mile walk in. Couldn't have asked for a better bear race. Stayed out of the ledges and stayed high. Total race was only around 7-8 miles.
