David , i squirt 1cc down their throat. But 1st you gotta pull something into the syringe like Pepsi or milk, to keep turpentine from hitting rubber stopper, if it hit a the stopper it has a chemical reaction (I guess and the runner tip of plunger gets hot) and you cannot depress the plunger expelling the turpentine.

Hey mark, I don’t think that’s the issue. It had rained the night before and everything was soaked and it was decently cool that day. I remember walking through some brush that day and I had to change all my cloths when I got back to the truck because all the brush was so wet. But it does get very hot here and there are some days or even weeks I choose not to hunt because it wouldn’t be safe for the dogs.
We think we found the problem. A full body x ray showed a mass in his upper abdomen. They did surgery and took a sample and sent it into the lab. We are hoping it’s something treatable with medicine because it touches his liver, pancreas, and spine, so a surgery to remove the mass would be extremely risky if it’s something like cancer. Lab results should come back later this week.

Mass showed to be a drainage area from a bad infection of unknown cause. They put him on more and stronger doses of antibiotics and they want to do blood tests about every two weeks to make sure it’s working. This is good news, he said there’s a good chance he will recover. Vet says there’s no way to know what caused it.

Good luck with your dog. You did a good job staying on top of this and I hope he recovers 100%.

Just last summer i had my up and coming best acting pup get bit in the shoulder from a bear. She was a small older sow, ended up treeing her, anyhow didnt think much of it. Washed wounds out figured would heal. That night had him on another. He jumped, trailed and made it to the tree with a few other hounds. When i got to the tree he was laying down not barking, not like him. By the next morning he was shaking bad. Monday broughf him in. He contracted Meningitis.
