For some reason on the other thread it won’t show me anything, any updates at all?

I am curious how this ultimate bobcat dog breeding has turned out now? Haven't heard a word of it in a few yrs.
I know it took all breed of dogs decades to be perfected. And then people have proceeded to better some breeds and others destroy it.
Just curious if this collage of different stuff made anything special and has any demand for it?

I'm sure curious also? Or has the dream been retired?

I was also curious to see what came of all this

I got a male and female from Dan. They ended up at a buddies place. The male was growly towards other male dogs and didn't make the cut because of that. The female by the end of this bear season was leading the pack in front of anything running in the pack. Haven't had that great of weather for cat season but we'll see if she makes the switch to cats.

Were these two you got bred to be ultimate bobcat dogs? Were they from his final product? And does the one that turned out do as he described the ultimate bobcat dog will do like how he described how they will run a track and so on?
I am curious.

Maybe they are so good he's still out catching bobcats and no time to respond!

Im new to the site and the sport. Im going to attempt to run Bobcat with A beagle and 2 Elkhounds. Any thoughts?

GO for it, should not be hard to run bobcats, catching can be the hard part. Have heard of some having success with Elkhounds, often thought a beagle in the pack would not hurt. Al

I think deep in WV with a healthy bobcat population. I never heard of anyone chasing cats with Elkhounds myself. I always assumed its because the don't have a very cold nose. But i always thought that that if you could put one on a Bobs ass he could sure stick to him and keep up with him when he hits the trees. So im hoping to use a beagle for a scent hound and the Norwegians to finish the track. My beagle is only 6 weeks old and my Elkhound litter isnt due until April 1st so it will be awhile before i can relay any results.

Can u share what you have heard about Elkhounds and Cat hunting and were it was Al?

About 1975 a local young timber cutter who had spent the past winter in Idaho where he had enjoyed hunting bobcat with a coworker/s two elkhounds, shared that those elkhounds impressed him so he had purchased a pup from & planned to hunt some bobcat local.He also showed me some pictures of some nice pelts those two elkhounds had caught in Idaho. I recalled he did catch numerous coon with his young elkhound & a bobcat or two here. I did hunt a time or two with his young elkhound & recall that young hound was a very busy hunter. I will guess the element of surprise had a lot to do with the success those two elkhounds had at catching those Idaho bobcats. If, your beagle is an open trail dog that could be a determent to your catch rate when paired with your elkhounds. Of coarse, I never hunted with those two elkhounds in Idaho, nor will I hunt with your pack, just my thoughts. Good luck Al

Thanks Al. Ive thought a lot about a the beagle having a busy mouth and to this point only hope its not the case. Love hearing the success of the Elkhounds. And coincidentally enough, my Gyp Elkhound is from a bloodline out of Idaho.

The beagle is out of a line that the breeder claims , produces hard hunting,run to catch style dog .
