We are being told that it should be heard at 9:00 and we should plan on being there at 8:00am, depending where you are coming from the light rail is the best way to get there I took it last week from the station by 80 and Watt, it's a buck for the parking and 2.50 each way and you don't have to worry about the parking down town, there is a train leaving every 15 minutes all day and it drops you off at 10th and K 1/2 a block from the capital.

1. History repeats itself
2. California’s mountain lion hound hunting ban since 1972 has led to a 600% increase of human attacks in 35 years.
3. 75% of those attacks occurred in a California park.
4. One third of the victims after that hound hunting ban and 600% increase of attacks were children between the ages 5 and 10 years old.
5. There have already been 17 victims of black bear attacks in California in the last 26 years.
6. 65% of the victims of those bear attacks were in a campground at the time of attack; at least three bear attack victims were 3 different 13 year old boys
7. If California has a 600% increase of bear attacks like our terrible mountain lion attack increase, there could be as many 102 bear attacks in the next 35 years. That is an average of 2.9 bear attacks per year.
8. After Oregon’s Measure 18 bear dog pursuit ban in 1995, attacks have increased 300% in that state according the Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife.
9. In the 3 years prior to Oregon’s dog pursuit ban, the number of bears that had to be killed for human safety was 3 black bears. In the 17 years since dog pursuit has been banned in Oregon, the number of bears killed for human safety has been 362 bears. That is an increase of 2129%.
10. Since the dog pursuit ban in Oregon, the average number of black bears per year killed for property damage has risen from 169 bears to 241 bears per year which is an increase of 142%.
11. The methods banned in Oregon by Measure 18 had amounted to 45% of the annual bear take prior to 1994. The method to be banned by SB 1221 has amounted to an average of 46.6% of the annual bear take over the last 7 years. I ask the question, how can someone make the same modification yet expect a result different from the same previous experiment of reducing the annual bear take by 45%?
12. During 2011 in Oregon, 57,472 bear tags were sold at $14.50. Those 57,000 hunters without dogs were able to take 1,346 bears. California sold 25,191 bear tags in 2011 and hunters were able to help the DFG get closer to its annual harvest objective by harvesting 300 more bears than Oregon hunters. If Ted Lieu is going to try an lower the amount of bears taken by 46.6%, he needs to figure out a way sell more than 31,000 additional bear tags at a cost of $43 apiece to allow the California Dept. of Fish and Game to even get close to its harvest objectives.
13. According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, after Washington banned bear dog pursuit in 1997, that state has a bear attack increase of 150% Washington’s bear attack history is different than California’s in that a 4 year old child was brutally slaughtered by a black bear in that state.
14. Did Ted Lieu write any part of SB 1221 to prevent California from repeating its own 600% increase of predator attacks? Did co-author Bob Blummenfield or co-author Paul Fong write any part of SB 1221 to prevent Californian’s from experiencing the 300% and 150% bear attack increases of Oregon and Washington?
15. Californians don’t need another law which will increase danger to them and their children. What Californians need are Assemblymembers who put their fists down and say, “I won’t pass a bill proved to put Californian’s lives in danger. I won’t allow it. Not on my watch.”
Its getting close. These are the points that should be getting accross to the key assmblymembers. I already have been to each office in the committee with this info; call them and politely jam this data down their throats please.

Without dog pursuit of bears In Washington, that state has had 6 times the number of bear attacks than California during the last 7years.
Washington has 500% less than California's population.
Let them know that one.

Sorry, bulletin 10. is inaccurate. The average # of bears killed per year for property damage has risen by 42%, not 142%

To whom it may concern,
hi! I just wanted to make sure that all is well on this topic. Actually I just wanted to bump this back up to the top. So that it didn't slip down into the depths of amnesia! And there would be no excuses to not be aware that Tuesday the 26th is approaching. Anyway I sure hope you guys have a big turnout. And hopefully the message has been delivered to the everyday citizens and politicians of California that do not hunt, but do have common sense as to the importance of game management. And more importantly that you have had a loud enough voice to make perfectly clear to the politicians, that ignoring the people to promote their own agenda did not fare well for them at the last election and hopefully will not fare well for them at the next one! In other words would they like another term, or will they have to get a real job.
Good luck, Willy

Every body that can, needs to call tomorrow for every member of your family and friends, let them know what this means to you and how this will effect your life, if your not from California let them know you come to California to run your dogs and the thousands of dollars you spend every year in Ca. to run your dogs.
