Barlow did build a good site. But he doesn't display the temperment to be fair and even. His experience is next to non-existant, both in hunting and breeding. But proclaims himself an expert. He subscribes to the theory of trashing others to make himself look better, rather than doing it on his own accomplishments. Pretty sorry crap over there.

GENTLEMEN/LADIES,

TAKE YOUR GARBAGE AND CHILDISH GAMES SOME WHERE ELESE THIS POST IS SO FAR OFF TRACK NOW. AS FOR GREGS DOGS IF YOU HAVE EVER RAN WITH THEM YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT KIND OF QUALITY THEY REALLY ARE AND WHAT YOU COULD EXPECT TO HAVE IF YOU BUY ONE OF HIS PUPS. MR. ANDERSON HAS DONE A REAL GOOD JOB WITH HIS BREEDING PROGRAM AND PUT TOGETHER SOME FINE HOUNDS, WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO KNOCK HIM DOWN TO BUILD YOURSELF UP. GROW UP PEOPLE AND TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS AND GIVE CREIT WHERE IT IS DUE.

I think you might be asking a little too much out of some folks.

I do find it funny though how folks promote dogs both for themselves and for others.

Hello all.
My name is Greg Anderson, I have hunted hounds for 31 years, started in '77. It has been quite a journey, I am perhaps the dumbest man you will ever meet, and maybe the luckiest. I may be the luckiest man because of the men and wemon I was blessed to have come across in my journey, I call it evolution. People like DJ Reynolds (my idol) I have never heard DJ trash another person. He never owed me anything and took me and taught me alot about hounds, saw my first lion with him. Hal Mecham taught me the most about lions and is an amazing teacher and survivalist. Bruce Nay is the same. And Jerry Boran, a great houndsmen. Jerry had a unique power about him. Everytime i saw him he made me feel like I was somebody. The same with Doug Gibbs, Roger Mitchell, Lee Mecham, Cecil Ralston, Leland and Brad Evans. Leland taught me the most about coon hunting, and alot about life. I also owe Jerry SR., Jerry Lee, and Sam Sickels, Tommy and Bobby Farmer alot too. Through hunting with these men I took some of my largest steps at becoming a better houndsmen. Van Johnson, it was Van who taught me more about rig dogs then anyone. And he has earned his place in history by doing things honestly, hard work, and an amazing attitude. Mike Meiner, Trevor Meiner, and Rocky Adair, you guys are amazing. Rocky, you inspire me to be a better person!

Ok, enough of the mushy stuff, there are so many to thank I will have to do it in stages. Well, I guess it is time to answer some questions about these Plotts.

True I got Bloody Bill while hauling dogs in Wisconsin from Matt. I got into some trouble with the CDOW and was put on probation for two years.
So I ran a dog hauling Ad, started hauling dogs, sold most of my own dogs, bought a new truck and hit the road.

I relized that I had acess to the hound dog world and how huge it truly was, I formed a plan. My plan was to buy some of the best bred pups from all over the country, so I did.

I bought 12 Walkers, 9 Blue-tics, 7 English, and 8 Plotts. I do not hunt Blan and Tans or Redbones although I know there are some very good ones out there.

Anyway, I would haul dogs for one month at a time, come back home to train pups for a month, and take off again. I put 168,000 Miles on a new truck in 11 months. It was the best and worse job I have ever had. Chuck with Red Wing, you are the Iron Man and one tough S.O.B and a friend, I salute you.

After putting the pups through a very tough program in tough conditions on Long Park, mostly in dirt, I kept only 1 Walker, from Paul Wilson (Grady Alabama) which was an amazing pup. 1 Blue-tic from Phil Gardner (Missouri I think). None of the English. And 6 of the Plotts.

I ran all of them the same. No favorites. All old, cold tracks in some of the meanest terrain around. Same conditions, Scent, Heat, Everything. What I found out suprised me.

The Plotts except for one Walker and one Bluetic blew the others completely out of the water! Everything from Cold trailing, Treeing, most deffinatly Grit and Endurance, Tough feet, and most important, Brains! That is why I have mostly Plotts in my yard today. I should also mention that there was also in this mix, some dogs that I had raised for years. They were mostly Bluetics, English, Walkers, and Mixes.

Bloody Bill at that time was my favorite because he would cold trail the best on a very old track. But on a hot track, the others would out-run him like Negra. I almost shot Bill because he went to the 3 strikes rul I have. He did not fire at all the first 2 times, the third time saved his life. He became a complete trail dog, tree dog, rig dog, and he was smart!

One of the pups I got was out of CodyII and one of Eugene Walkers females, it was a complete Cull. It would hardly fire at all.

The Negra dog I got in Malad Idaho, he turned out to be a real good dog. He was very athletic and they say he is a very good Bobcat dog.

After running all of the pups through this program I took them to Utah the following spring and caught quite a few bear with them by themselves. I have video of this and people who seen it with their own eyes. Lane Frachom, Rocky Adair, Trevor Meiner, and others.

Some of the pups came from Darius Martin, Greg Whitley, Mike Cauley (Lonesome, her pappered name is Slew), and she was the best female and the best reproducer.

The Bill X Lonesome cross is my favorite. Joey Hudson, Bill Hicks, and Marion Allison sent me a pup I'm starting now.

Now to move on to Irv Corbin. When you came to my house to pick up Rebel Pride Magnum you had three dogs, I do not remeber any brindle dogs. I think, and might be wrong, seeing a red and white dog, maybe a high tan dog, and something else. Don't remeber any Plotts. So when did you get your first Plott? I got my first Plott in 1980, it was an
Obe Corey X Pioneer bred dog. He was one of the best dogs I've ever had but he was sterile. I have had alot of Plotts since, from Dan Murphy, Charlie Crott, Dale Thompson, John Diaz, Steve Mohr, Dale Brandberger. I still have their old papers. Call me, Send me a video, and I will send you one of mine. I always enjoy watching other peoples stuff more then mine.

Now Catch, you stud you! Do I know you? Where are you from? I am giving you a personal invite to come and hunt. You can come and judge me and the dogs from manners, handle, rig, trail, tree, grit, endurance, the whole deal. Bring your dogs. Borrow some real good ones. I will only hunt 3 year old dogs and younger against anythign that you bring. What are your bloodlines? Hell, I might want some of yours. Oh, and yes, sometimes I do buy a few dogs to train, but not very many. I raise most of my dogs. I never have a problem selling a dog from Shawn Anderson and a few other people. So, what dogs have you hunted with that came from me? Who owns them? Are they real hunters, I mean real hunters, or just talkers?

And one other thing, I have never claimed to have the best hounds or to be the best houndsmen. I am so far down that list you won't even find my name on it. But I have had a very good life and alot of fun. I am very grateful for it. There are times on the mountain I have felt like a king, but relize I'm just a speck of sand!

Remeber, you can steal a wizards magic wand, but that doesn't mean you know how to work the magic.

Thanks.
Greg Anderson.

Greg ~ Magnum was my first Plott. Although I've liked them for a LONG time.
As I was growing up in MI, my Dad had a few. Not too many though. He mainly had Walkers. So that's probably why I got the Walkers first.

I did have a Plott cross while at your place (Tiger). Along with the Reg. Walker I have, Rock (which was the first dog I got) as well as the Red & White dog, Banjo (Plott X Walker).

I was a believer in Plotts as I had Magnum, plus at that time, I wanted something that everyone else didn't have. Now, They're ALL trying to get em' some!! 8)

I've been meaning to get a hold of you for a while but didn't know how. Now that I've got your # I'll give you a call.
If you have a pic of that Bill dog, could you post it? I'd like to see what he turned out looking like.

Marion does have some Bear Catchin' dogs too!! Is this your first pup of his? Marion's been a good friend of mine since my first Plott Days in 2004.

Take it easy Greg!

Irv, nice to hear from you. I will look for some pictures of Bill, Negra, and the females I sold to Bill Kenross. Bill probably has lots of pictures, I have alot of video of Bill, Negra, and their offspring, Cabo, Socki, Choulo, Dirty Deeds, catchin' their own bears before any of them was 2 years old from rig to tree and fighting bears not just baying them. Cabo is a Bill X Lonesome cross, "Mike Cauley" is terrible about getting every bear he encounters by the head. Lonesome should have puppies tonight or tomorrow, same cross third time I have made it with the best turn out of puppies that make bear dogs extreamly athletic, powerful, hard tree dogs, and very very smart. their endurance is amazing. my daughter and I, Nikki, are enjoying hounds more then ever before, we invite you to come and hunt we are going to monticello Utah for a month starting july 12. then we will come back the first of august, as we have bear hunters coming in, you are invited to come then if it suites you better. good luck with the dogs.

Talked to Bill Kenross this morning, here is his number:
1-435-427-3446
Bill has made Bloody Bill and Negra, Curley, Misery and others into very good lion and bobcat dogs. Will trail in dirt on lion as good as any. and is a good man. his son, Corey, is a very tough man and a very good hunter. i nicked named Bill Kenross "Bloody Bill" many years ago. he is alot of fun.
thanks, Greg Anderson

Gentlemen. My ententions were never to cause an arguement. I wanted to come here and look at different bred plott dogs and their pro's and con's. I want to find the best breeding I can. I know next to nothing compared to most houndsmen. I know everyone has their own style of hunting and therefore their own opinion and outlook on what they find desireable in the type dog they hunt. I myself know what I want but don't know who has what I am looking for. Again what I WANT in a dog is a strong desire to hunt, speed, grit, a cold nose and most importantly (TO ME) brains. I want a dog that I can train to do what I ask of him.
Mr. Anderson. I had read several good things about your dogs here. My dad instilled in me the belief that if you want to be a winner don't surround yourself with loosers and so far his words have rang true andI see by your post that you have surrounded yourself with men whose opionins and visions you value. I would like to speak to you sometime about your dogs when it is convient for you.
I can't afford a Cadillac of a dog. Even if I could I would much rather have all the pieces and put them together myself. That is why I want a pup with the best breeding I can find.
Thanks to everyone that has sent me information about where I should look. I have called a few people and am still looking. Thanks again.

Hello Hunter.
Sorry you are getting caught up in a little bull. It's really not an arguement. I am new to this computer talk myself. I talked to a friend of mine in Northern Utah, who has read alot of Catch's posts. Looks like I have alot of catching up to do. So this is as far as I go until I do some reading...

Ok, I am back. I had my daughter print alot of those posts off. I now have a stack of paper high enough to climb on top of and commit suicide, or heat my house for the next two years.

What I found out though was this Catch guy is a Plott man through and through and a very passionate bear hunter. This is good, I (kinda) like him. I want to meet him. I would love to get a pup from him. I would call him and see if he could sell you a pup.

Hunter, the truth is, the Big Truth is this:
You can find hounds or dogs in all colors, sizes, shapes that (Catch) game. I like a medium sized hound, good solid feet, confirmation and above all, Heart and Brains. Heart and Brains makes the dog do what it is going to do or become along with what you do. Your pack will only be as good as you or as good as you want them to be. As long as you start with the best seeds.

If you want good apples, start with good apple seeds.

Remeber, grit is just a bonus. First you have to start the track. If no start, No bay, No tree in the future. Then you got to jump it or catch it, Bay or Tree. But one thing that is very important to me is where I stand on the 10th day. Or 20th day. Or 30th day. How well does my little army hold up?

If you want to make a great pack of dogs, go to the bathroom mirror, stand there, and dare yourself to be dead honest with what you see, judge that man! Stand there for as long as it takes, then go to the toliet and puke up your feelings, then flush! And do it often. I usually flush twice.

It's like a step ladder, or from the bottem of the mountain to the top, one step at a time. Do not forget (Ever forget) the mirror or the toliet!

The best bear hunt I have ever been on took place last August. I had two hunters in camp. My daughter Nichole, 16 years and I was going to split up and rig different spots. We split the dogs, Cabo was almost 3, Socki and Choulo turned 2 in May. Dirty Deeds one year 11 months, and a bunch of dumb pups and two young dogs I was hunting for Cody Warren, both were around 2, Tiger and Chase. Anyway, it's early morning, we start the trucks and take off like we know what we are doing, well, the Serpentine Belt in my Chevy freezes up, man it's smoking! Like the idiot I am, I think my truck is on fire. I call on the radio "I'm on fire! Trucks on fire!" About 20 times. Well we figure it out and I'm stranded. The leader of this outfit is shut-down. I'm not known for my calmness or any signs of maturity. So I give Nikki the rest of the dogs, She takes off, hunters following in their personal truck. I tell her to go to the spot I was going to.

So they leave. I'm sitting in camp. I can not tell you the emotions that ran through my mind (my truck has dents all over it!) I'm pissed! Anyway, about 30 minutes later, Nikki calls "Dad, I'm starting to rig Lookout Mountain RD." I call a friend in town to come get me. Then Nikki keys mic to radio and I hear the dogs blowing up. Then awhile later she calmly calls me and says "We are treed, Dad we're going in" I try to act all cool and tell her to go ahead and not wait on me, it's going to take a couple of hours, and she says "no, the bears high in the tree and it's not going anywhere, we'll wait."

My buddy shows up, we get there, as I get close to the tree I get the video camera ready, I find myself looking for my daughter as I zoom in on her with video. The sun is shinning on her face and she points to the dogs and the bear in the tree. And like the big stud that I am, I start to cry. Before anyone notices I pretend to cuss the oak-brush for ramming a stick in my eye! I now know what that one thing that one most important thing is.

Hunter, call Mike Cauley, Van Johnson, Ernie Kreamer, Joey Hudson, Greg Whitly, Mike Kemp, Bill Hicks, and Eugene Walker the best bear video I have seen to date I seen at Joey Hudsons. The best photo album I've seen was Mike Cauleys on hogs. All of these guys I have met and know are honest and they know way more hog and bear hunters then I do.

Good luck (It's the mirror and toliet)
Thanks.
Greg

PS: Lonesome had pups, so far 8, 1 has died. We will see in the morning what the total is.

Hello Greg whats up? I think you are right about the comedian thing, but more than anything you should have persued a career in writing, I had to stop reading make an eye apointment and go get me some glasses before I could continue my reading on the first post you made. I will give you props about all the kind words you used for everyone you mentioned I would have to agree 100% on what you said..

Just for the record to everyone out there reading Greg Anderson is a very good friend of mine and about as fun of a man that you could ever be around, AND HE 100% KNOWS HOUNDS even though he might not say he does he realy does, in my opinion there is not a better bear hunter out there and I know for a fact they don't get a better handle put on them by anyone else either. Well you all have a wonderfull evening and I will catch you later. P.S. Remember what we are all in this for, the fact that we trained a pack of young dogs we could somewhat trust from the truck to the tree and love every minute of it no matter what we catch (I think you all know what I meen by that... LOL) especially if you are with someone you love.. Thank you all and good luck on all your hunts God bless.

I wasn't going to respond to this thread anymore because I could careless. Larry and I was having a conversation about hunting with Bloody Bill or hearing about Bloody Bill. My comments were not directed to anyone or any dog. I was making a statement that most dogs that are spoke about have not been hunted with 99% of the people that is speaking. I didn't speak badly about no one, or any dog.

Now as far as your invite, does it still stand? Corey K and I will be hunting in New Mexico in late Aug. and would like to stop by. The only dogs I could barrow are a pair of walkers from the neighbor, they have not been hunted in a few years but he assures me they are real good.

Lets see, what dogs have I hunted with that came from you. Corey had a Blue dog last year in New Mexico that came from you. I have hunted with all five of those Bill has. We never got a chance to run them but never the less I hunted with them. I have not hunted with, but Greg H, Brian & Bret B have Blue dogs from you, they catch game. I hunt with Darrus a little, does he have dogs from you? (I'm not sure) I talk to Matt R. some, he seem to like his Plott.

Yes I'm from Idaho, and if you ever get this way look me up and we will go catch a bear or lion.

Hunter I'm sorry your thread went South, it was not intended that way. The best of luck to you in your search for Plotts that will suit you.

hi my name is justin hill im here to tell about gregs dogs! but befor i get started i would like to thank some guys that tought me alot about hunting and life! bruce nay, van johnson, and the guy we r talking about! without freinds in the woods it would be boring! go stay 2 weeks alone and c how fun it is ull know what i mean!

Well to start things off i sold all my dogs in the winter of 06
to buy into a company! well as u know i madde some money and i started looking for more dogs! in my opion i had some of the best breeding u could find and two dogs of gregs 1 dog i call dino and a dog called copper! dino was about 6 months starting lion hunting here in co! i gave copper to my partner which he didnt hunt her and got her back start of bear season in las sal! dinoat 6 months would fire as hard as some of the 1and half old i had! so i toke him with me every where and befor long he was trailing as good and treeing as good as the older dogs! i caught 6 lions and 3 bobcats with him last winter! copper never hunted!

well i get a call from greg about 2 months befor bear hunting wanted to know if i wanted a full broher to dino just differant litter i said YES! greg knew i talk high of dino so he got 2 out of the same litter! well i got him a month befor bear season and he was about 11 weeks old so i decided to fire him and he was as good at 11 weeks as most dogs a year no bs! so i started believing in this plott blood so i told greg i wanted more he said he would bring some young dogs to bear camp for me to look at!

bear camp! i get my copper dog back two days befor and head up early saturday morning, it snowed a inch so me and greg decided to go hunt anyways well 9or so we rig a bear but no track so we dump cabo, saki, and dino and befor long we trail over a few canyons and stop well we get to the dogs and find out we r backwards, so we load the dogs and head to the rock in hopes to find a lion! but we end up starting a bear at 4pm with the same 3 dogs and we cold trailed it for a hour or so befor cabo got out on it and ended up 5 miles away in so big rims! the other 2 never made it out on the track!

and for the next week same song same dance more rigs more bears! untill mid week we dumped a bunch of pups and two broke dogs! 1 pup my copper dog! well we ended up scatered! my copper dog and one broke dog in a big big hole so we left them for the night which turned into 3 days befor we gathered them and when we did that dam pup of mine was not sore footed and still had energey and the broke dog could hardly walk and we had to drag it out(broke dog not a plott) thats when i knew greg was onto something! a broke dog that had been roaded and hunted is sore and my 9 month old pup never been off the chain tuff and still wanting to go! u would of did what i did!!!!!

next day but evry thing that wasnt out of gregs stuff for sale and bought 3 more plotts of gregs! within a wekk i had nothing but gregs blood! and nothing over 1 year and 4 months old and happy! the next day i rigged a bear with my dino dog and dumped! copper and a few more well we ended up walking that bear for 6 hrs with 2 dogs around a year old and i couldnt call them off! but we got gathered late that day and headed to camp! after that i was so dam exited to c theys dogs at 2 year old! i run a few more bears befor the end and same results long races and the pups stayed till the end!

well there is the story as i seen it!!! gregs dogs r cold nosed, have the run, the go, the grit and the power! and rig as good as any i have seen and tree just as well! they have drive and passion like few ive ever seen but just not one in a litter all of them! thats what makes these rare!and manners they dont come out of the box unless called! plus there smart as well! if any body wants to know more just write and ill tell you! im not here to brag or talk bad about other breeds just here to tell facts as i seen it and tell my story! i got rid of all breeds for this blood for what i
have seen of these dogs! thanks for ur time and if u want a good dog call greg he will stand behind them and so will i!

hill
