Don't forget to thank the people who have supported you, Which appear to be mostly only one side of the political fence
That is also important

Kiwi is right we do have to thank the ones that have voted with us, about 9 out of 10 have been republicans, in the Assembly appropiations it was split right down party lines reps. for us and democrates against us and we are out numbered in the assembly floor about 2 to 1, our best chance now looks to be getting the sanate to vote for us.
AND IF YOU GUY'S CAN'T GET ALONG, THEN YOU MIGHT AS WELL SEND IN YOUR MEMBERSHIP TO THE HSUS

So does anyone know what is going on with Lieu's promised (As per Assembly Parks/Wildlife hearing) promise to include the ability of the CA Fish and Game Commission to overturn his law by vote?
That is one that we need to stay on top of!
Also I have not had time to do so yet but if someone could make the simple list (fax/phone)of the Assembly members and post it here I know it helps people out because they can print it off easily.
I did not realize it had to go back to the Senate, I think most people don't so everyone needs to write the Senate (look in old posts to get the list), the Assembly and the Governor.
Also do we know a timeframe yet???

To all California houndsmen,
It is very important to thank the ones that were in your corner. However, it is even more important to remind the ones that did not learn anything in the 2010 election. That when the silent majority speaks loud and clear this November. And hopefully the right people get into office. The federal handouts will soon come to an end!! And they will have to swim in their own shit and do the will of the people. And never again will they think that it is more important to worry about the tradition of hunting while the entire economy collapses around them. Please make plenty of phone calls to Mr. Brown who is the chief of all the Indians. And remind him that not only you but an entire country is watching, and that his job is up for reevaluation. And by the way there is no need to sugar coat it for him because I don't believe he gives a damn anyway. And absolutely remind them that the ones that you all didn't get in 2010 that you will catch up with this time.
And also, in regard to the Medicare debate. Each and every one of us has a senior that is dear to us. Please drive the message home, that although the Democratic Party tries to tell you that the money that they pillaged from Medicare to support Obama care will be made up from all the fraud and waste they are going to find. Please ask each and every one of us and every senior that you know, when was the last time that government was good at stopping any kind of fraud and waste!!! (VOTER FRAUD????) Then ask if Mr. Obama has ever lied to us?? Although some may say that this has nothing to do with the bill for bear hunting and Bobcat running. Don't BS yourselves take a good hard look and then do what needs to be done. And remember that if this son of a gun does pass. If we are able to undo Obama care we should surely be able to undo something as trivial as 1221 a bill that was derived from other idiots. When the right people are in charge.
Take care, Willy

Hey Liz
The Half assed amendments that were going to be added to another bill were changed to amendments
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postq ... type=email on 8/20/12 so now the bill will have to go back to the Senate if it gets pasted in the Assembly.

What's up with this hound tag program that is mentioned in the amendment. It defines a hound as any dog used to pursue mammals.
Looks like they are going to try to make up the loss in revenue by charging every hound hunter in the State a "fee" to run their dogs. Last I checked...coon, rabbit, pig, deer, fox, etc. are all mammals. This affects absolutely everyone! This is the first I read of this.
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/11-12/bil ... m_v97.html (2) "Hound" means a dog used to pursue mammals.
(b) The commission may establish a hound tag program.
(c) If a hound tag program is established, the commission may
require all of the following:
(1) That each hound be issued a license tag bearing a unique
identifying number that is to be worn at all times by the hound while
pursuing mammals.
(2) That all relevant local and state laws pertaining to dogs are
being followed while the hound is being used to pursue mammals.
(3) That each hound be microchipped with an implanted transponder
that has a unique identification code.
(4) That the owner maintain documentation showing that the hound
is current on all required vaccinations and treatments for the
prevention of rabies and any other disease specified by the
department.
(5) That the owner report, within 24 hours of its last sighting,
any hound that is lost during hunting, pursuing, or tracking
activities.
(6) That the hound's tag identification number be recorded on the
hunting tag of any animal taken using the services of the hound.
(d)
If a hound tag program is established, the commission may
adjust the amount of the fees for the hound tag as necessary, to
fully recover, but not exceed, all reasonable administrative and
implementation costs of the department and the commission relating to
the program.

Well if it wasn't already, it should be clear as day to everybody now. This is not just about bear and bobcat. This is about ALL hunting with dogs. They just used this bill as a backdoor to regulating ALL hunting with hounds out of existence. How much are these hound tags going to cost? Can F&G refuse to provide a hound tag based on number of dogs, or previous infractions (real or otherwise)?
If/when this bill passes, this will be the end of ALL recreational hound hunting in California. Who's going to get into this sport with all the added restrictions and cost? Hound hunting is a huge commitment already without more govt. intervention. Yes, I'm sure HSUS knows this, and so do the legislators.
But of course the govt. gets a pass on having to follow these new rules. There should be a special place in hell reserved for all the govt. hunters that are going to step in and manage the mammal population for the State of CA, when all of us have to hang up our leashes.

The restriction for your dogs are :
The bill would eliminate existing provisions allowing for the use of
dogs to hunt bears, and would, instead, authorize the use of not more
than 3 dogs to pursue bears, as defined, or bobcats pursuant to a
depredation permit issued by the department. The bill would authorize
the department to authorize specified entities to use dogs to pursue
bears or bobcats for the purpose of scientific research, under certain
conditions. The bill would also authorize the pursuit of bears or bobcats
by dogs that are guarding or protecting livestock or crops on property
owned, leased, or rented by the owner of the dogs, if the dogs are
maintained with, and remain in reasonable proximity to, the livestock
or crops being guarded or protected.
The bill would authorize the Fish
and Game Commission to establish a hound tag program, imposing
prescribed requirements on the licensure and use of hounds, as defined,
to pursue mammals.

I'm pretty sure the 'hound tag' is written in a way that it will apply to any dog used for the pursuit of any mammal, not just dogs doing depredation work.

From the office of Assemblyman Tim Donnelly
Fellow Patriots,
If you care about protecting freedom, there's something you can do that could be the difference between winning and losing more of our heritage as outdoorsmen and women. Please take 5 minutes and call the two Republican Senators who voted for (SB 1221 Lieu), which bans the use of hounds while hunting bears, and let them know how important it is to over 10,000 houndsmen, and countless other hunter and gun owners in this state to preserve this right.
http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces ... 0120SB1221I just heard that in order to get it out of The Appropriations Committee, the bear tag fee has been increased to offset the $250K it will cost to administer the hound ban (SB 1221). As result, the bill must go back to the Senate, which means you need to get everyone you can to make their voice heard loud and clear in opposition to SB 1221.
916-651-4037 Senator Bill Emmerson
916-651-4019 Senator Tony Strickland
If you are the leader of a Hound Group, a Tea Party, or you are a business owner who likes to hunt, PLEASE SHARE this email with your list of members, fellow hunters, outdoorsmen and gun enthusiasts, customers, church friends, anyone you think might care enough about freedom to pick up the phone.
Tell every one of them to call Senator Tony Strickland, and Senator Bill Emmerson and tell each of them to oppose the bill, that there are 10's of thousands of you who care deeply about preserving your heritage and your lifestyle as an outdoorsman, and that if they support it again, you will make it your life's work to make sure they don't get elected to anything.
We have a 2nd chance to kill this bill, and we don't often get a 2nd chance, so rally the troops and gear up for war. We want to blow up their phones all day long, call early and spread the word.
Godspeed,
Assemblyman Tim Donnelly
59th Assembly District
916-319-2059
PS: Please share this if you care about preserving the right to hunt with hounds, and ask those you call to share this e-mail with other concerned citizens.
916-651-4037 Senator Bill Emmerson
916-651-4019 Senator Tony Strickland
