is it very common to see many solid black plotts, and are they more common in certain lines? or is it a sign of non pure breeding.

It's pretty common, most have some brindling that you have to really look hard to see, others are all black. UKC requires some brindling, but it by no means reflects on poor breeding practices.

Just from my observations the plotts are moving to having more and more saddlebacks. Anyone else seeing this? I still see plenty of fully brindle but the saddlebacks used to be more scarce around here and now I am starting to see them more and more. Doesnt hurt my feelings. I like a good saddleback as much as a full brindle. Picked up another one along Bluff Creek lines heavy in Bearpath Gunner top and bottom just a few months ago. Good looking dog.
