I just drove down to Kanab and picked up a couple dogs from Jeff. I got a year and a half old walker male out of Topper Again and Jeff's old Novi dog, he is a big stout looking thing that looks like he could run the socks off of whatever he chooses to run, Jeff told me for a young dog he is showing a filthy cold nose, so I cant wait to find a cat and send him on his way. I also got another dog from Jeff she is also a year and a half old full Nance bred dog but I cant remember what Jeff said she was out of and she is extremely good looking and is showing the signs of yet another good Nance dog out there. I cant wait to get these dogs rolling down some lion and bobcat tracks with my other young dogs, it should be fun. I'm hopping they turn out super good because I would love to throw that blood into the stuff I have hunted for years, and from what I've heard about these Allen dogs it should improve what I have now, and in my oppinion that is what its about, always striving to make the blood and pack of dogs you have just that much better, so I'm extremely exited to do so. For those of you that don't know Jeff, some time before you die you need to make it a point to meet him, because he is about as nice and genuine of a guy you could ever meet, and truely knows the game of dirt lion hunting..

rzhounds,
You couldn't have said it any better and I share your feelings about striving forward. Jeff and I talked a while back and Jeff said as soon as you think you have the kind, you will never get any better. To hear a man with jeffs experience say that he is still striving and growing says mountains about the kind of hound guy he is. Lets see some pics of those walkers.

I will get some pics of the two dogs in the next couple days. I agree 100% about trying to better your pack, Jeff is right as soon as you think you have the best and can't improve you just as well give er up. Hal Mecham and I was talking the other day he told me "I've been hunting 40 years and still learn something everytime I go to the mountain". I think those words are genuine, I've talked to a few houndsmen that say they have accomplished all there is to with hounds, I just couldn't believe what I was hearing, then Mecham says after 40 years he's still learning, that proves to me who the real houndsmen are, that man has trained and sold more good good dogs in his day than most the guys saying this will probably ever own, when a guy has raised, trained and sold that many hounds and still is that humble that's the kind of people I want in my life.
