few years ago a group of tree-huggers was presenting an alternative to the ranchers for controlling the coyote population. It seemed that, after years of the ranchers using the tried and true methods of shooting and/or trapping the predators, the tree-huggers had a "more humane" solution. What they proposed was for the animals to be captured alive, then castrate the males, then let them loose again, and then the population would be controlled. I, kid you not, this was ACTUALLY proposed to the Wyoming Wool and Sheep Grower's Association. Well, all the ranchers thought about this amazing idea. Finally, an old boy in the back stood up, kicked his hat back and said: "Son, I don't think you understand the problem. These coyotes ain't screwin' our sheep, they're eating them!!"

Am I right in thinking that in NJ, the tree huggers wanted birth control for bears instead of a hunting season? Those people are f@%ked up.

Yes, that's right. They even managed to stop a bear season as late as when people had already got into the woods! This year our hunting rights are in even more peril with more tree huggers in high places than ever before  I wonder who is going to volunteer to administer all that birth control? Pack of idiots in charge and half the state keeps voting them in......ok, I'm back in control of myself now. Sorry, it was a good joke but a little too close to truth since the AR nuts don't see anything wrong with their more "humane" methods that don't work and my state seems to fall for every one of those stupid ideas as my hunting seasons get shorter and more expensive every year.

my favorite story of this nature

On Fire Island, a beach resort near NYC known for its flamboyantly gay population, they have been feeding the deer with birth-control laced corn to "control" the population. The deer are so thick that no one can grow a garden, and there is a huge problem with lyme disease from all the deer ticks. And everyone wonders why the corn-fed deer are so fat and healthy!
