hey im new to this sport just getting started and wondering what tracking system would be the best for me and where to get them any help is appreciated thanks.

It all depends on what you want and have to spend. From what I hear garmein is the way to go but I can't afforrd one, so is use the ole beeper unit. There are alot of them for sale on here cuse everyone's going to garmin. If your hunting with someone all the time see if you can just get by with collars at first and let him run the tracker, if not start warming the wife up to the idea now.

Garmin is pretty neat you can see where your dog has been, and if they are having trouble in an area you can go in to help. But it is recommended on here that you run the other style with it, I lost dogs because it lost signal to the collar and was not able to pick it back up. But i still like our garmin.

SouthPaw, the best system I have found for our area is a Quick Track, the Wildlife systems are great trackers as well, but are a pain to carry when you are hiking. Quick Track and Johnson have great tracking collars, once again the Quick Track for me has proven to have the best long range pick up. I run a Quick Track QTR-6000, and all Quick Track Xl long range collars, and a few old johnsons. I also in the last 2 years have been running the Garmin system, and it is sweet when it works, but I always run both GPS and normal telemetry collars. i like the Tracker Maxima, Works good and easy to carry when walking
