The Ouchy Robot

Post by Average Joe »

I’m sure this subject has been discussed numerous times but can’t find the info in a search. I have a 45 lb female that has junk for feet. She is my #1 cat dog and she just won’t quit BUT after a good race in the dirt or snow (snow being the worst) she will be doing the ouchy robot for about 5 or 6 days. She gets roaded 6 to 9 miles usually a couple times a week when not hunting and she won’t get sore. I have tried concrete, gravel, dirt, and sole hardener I use on horses (Formaldehyde/Iodine mix with the best results as long as there are no cuts.) I have been looking into possibly trying some boots but am a little nervous about how well the boots and dog could perform with some of those all day races through dirt, rock, snow, desert ,and mountain conditions.? Any body using them and what type and/brand?

Thanks, Joe

Buddy if this is in the wrong spot please move it. Thanks

Hey Joe I have a walker with alot of pink in his feet and I have tried everything on the market and Mushers Secret works real good for him. Snow does play hell on his feet worse when its that crusted crap. I grew up with a ton of cowdogs and some of them we used boots on and they work but I don't remember the brand, to long ago, but one of the problems with boots is they can't use the nails in the bad spots. I would try some of those rubber bottemed ones they make I think Cabelas sell some. Hope this helps. One more thing the dogs got to get used to them and not chew them off thats were you come in make her wear them around the house awhile.
