Well day started out kinda slow out south in the book cliffs. then about eight o clock we started a decent female. Well the dogs worked out of the country bout sounded like and finally caught her at about noon or so. Well we finished going down to the end of the road we turned loose on to listen and get bout to the end of it and cut a smokin overnight Big tom track but my luck didnt have any dogs. anyways got down to listen to them started walking in to where they were and of course she jumped and got on really patchy hillside, thats where things get wierd. They were cold traliling hard and then all the sudden acted like they jumped her. well they hauled ass outta there and covered some major country some country that i dont think a lion will cover in deep snow. and about a week ago my buddy caught a bear down there so i think them dogs got on to a bear could never find the dog tracks or whatever they were on. so followed after them in the truck. went as far as the truck would allow us. Right at dark sounded like they were treed two or three draws up and i couldnt make it to them in time. Going to take the snowmobils up in the morning and see what we come up with.

Good luck Pat, as we've probably all had dogs out over night this winter. Temperatures and deep snow (along with long trails) forces those situations on us.

Good luck in findin' the hounds... What I've learned is to go back to where you first dropped the dogs and put some warm blankets, food etc. You may want to even leave a shirt or jacket of yours something with your scent on it.
The hounds will sometimes back track all the way back to where they where dropped and if you leave some blankets and the above you may just find them waitin' when you return.
I would say leave water but it would be likely frozen by the time ya get back. In the warmer months blankets, food, water and something with your scent on it.
Hope this helps and best of luck..
