Ive never hunted with a bluetick plott cross but Ive hunted a few walker plott crosses that have been nice dogs. The first time you cross like that they seem to produce well hybrid vigor I believe they call it. Its the next ones that have attendency to go to hell. If the damn and sire are full blooded and exceptional dogs then I probably would try one if I needed a pup.

I have all ways wanted to breed a plott to a Bluetick,I bred a plott to a running Walker and boy you had a running machine and ready to fight when it got there.

way I figured it part would look like the Bluetick, part like the plott, drown the rest.
but I never did do it.

My buddy has a plott x bluetick male.It looks like a x large plott big and brindle.it is about 5 yrs old and has been used only on bear.he has lots of scars to prove it.He is selling this dog, he bought it with its father a blue tick.He only wanted the bluetick but they were sold as a pair.Nice lookin hound tho.i wish I had room for more.

Have a friend who had one,was a red brindle, about 45 lbs. that could flat run a track. Quick on bear grub on a lion, and stay put if things got a little western.

I wasnt going to reply to this post 'this subject has been visited too many times . just want to know what about the plott dog needs to be changed to justify crossing him with ablue dog . are you just crossing the best dog in your area to the other best or is the plott lacking something ? if so you dont need to cross breeds ,if you look some one has the type you want in that breed . dont own plotts just my preffrence i have been around some ,they all came from one man , his name was roy sing been alot of years dont know if hes still around , my point is you dont have to cross breeds to get what you want ,just do some searching. www.fallriverwalker.com

Plottman, get one of those pups if you want, what do you have to lose (especially if there cheap/free). If both parents are as good as you say, why the hell not get one. Lots of critters get caught with cross bred hounds, I have yet to see a dogs papers put a bear in a tree.

My $.02
