note there's some violent racist remarks not appropriate for children or sensitive adults on this thread

the article itself is from WPTV West Palm Beach, FL

my bet is that its a bobcat X housecat, but it is very handsome : )

I agree he sure is pretty. I have always wanted a mount of a bobcat jumping and catching a chukar, that would be a cool mount with him.

I think its a house cat. If it was in capitivity where are the pictures of the tail.

they caught it awhile ago and you gotta remember its in FL so its not going to be the same as the ones found in the northwest. Im no expert on bobcats but I dont see how it would be to unbelievable being as there are several other species of the feline who have Melanistic forms, its definitely not impossible to get a black bobcat.

????????????????

That does not look like a bob to me. No tuffs on the ears and you still can't see the tail. Although the hair around the neck looks interesting in the last photo. No doubt you can get a very occational color variation. I've seen an almost white bobcat before but this one doesn't look to me like a bobcat.

Been wrong before though!

Actually there are black bobs. They are called a mellinistic color phase. I saw one laying by one of my traps about five years ago never could catch the sob, at first I thought the same thing, and started doughting what I had seen. A month later a rancher driving the same drainage told me he saw a black bob less than 1/2 mile from were I had seen it, I spent the rest of the season calling and fallowing this cat and never could get ahold of it. Also a freind of mine claims he saw one two years ago about 30 miles away from the pervious location in the summer while scouting for deer. All though its hard to believe, i know what i saw and I don't dought the others. Never have seen a picture of one or one taken but sooner than later there will be one taken around here and i will post the pics.
