Use to visit with Gordon years ago at dog trial in Montana and Wyoming he had some nice looking plots I know him and Olen Greer were always swaping dogs back and forth but dont know if anyone ever carried on that strain or not. this was back in the early 80s.

Kevin moore had his line of plotts they went back to the early 80's and 90's then Kevin was killed and I took his last plott male and had semen colected and got a few straws befor the male was cut thet were rreally cat minded dogs I have all the paper work on theses plots and from what i hear they were among some of the first papered plotts. Kevin got his dogs from gordon and was freinds with him for a long time. I would like to find a female with similar line to cross back too any info or phone #'s would be great.

I know Olen Greer had a gentleman by the name of Ed Shultz that was helping him out in the late 70s early 80s he was a brick layer and I believe the last time I talked with Ed in the late 80s he had moved to Bozeman Mt. not sure if he is still there but if a person could find him he would have alot of knowledge about these dogs and maybe he still has that strain. I will try and see if I can locate him in Mt. for you. later, Andy

Here's info supplied by a fellow hunter:
"If you can get a copy of the 2008 APA yearbook, there is a great story in it about Gordon Pace and Olin Greer. They were avid bobcat hunters from Utah and Wyoming, respectively. The article says that Gordon's line of dogs were known as "Timberline", there is no mention of "Sunlight". It also indicated that Olin and Gordon kind of followed the same line and bred to each others dogs. Both of these men have passed on. Any dogs of today going back to Gordon's dogs would have alot of "Timberline" in the pedigree and Olin's were simply named "Greer's". The only old pedigrees of these men's that I've seen showed that they used blood going back to Owen's, Moffet, Missouri Buddy, Landries and other dogs going back almost exclusively to mountain bear dog stock. Unless a good friend or family member of their's kept the line going, I would bet it is as good as lost which is a shame. It sounded as though these two cat hunters had taken the old Plott bear dog stock and refined it quite well to catch lots of bobcats and the article also stated that catching lions was quite easy for these two hunters and their dogs when they found one to run. There was no mention at all of coon or bear hunting."

From what I understand the "Sunlight" line was a line that was used for an outcross, I believe out of Idaho.
