I have a female that has never had an issue with her feet until this year. ran her hard in cold weather with crappy snow and tore her feet up. cant get them toughned up its been weeks and have used blue lotion, tuff foot and no improvement. Tell me your remedies. later, Andy

Try some Koppertox

Kerosene.

Put some epson salt in a quart jar with water. Dip the feet in the morning & evening.

What is your kennel setup? Cement, dirt, rock?

dirt and rock I tore her feet up early with crappy snow and cold temps andhave been tring to nurse them back but everytime I keep hunting her she sores back up as our snow here has been crusted most of the winter. I think I have got her on the mend now Ill keep my fingers crossed.

Yea, that sucks. I'd say its just going to be time to get them back to normal. Which stinks because you'd rather but hunting her. As hard as it is, I think you'll just have to keep her off her feet. And then when you think shes ready, keep her off for another week to be sure.

They make a spray the gutiar players use on the fingers when they get sore. It works like a charm. It called finger ease or something like it. Look in your local music store that sell gutairs. Lasts a long time.

If you run enough, all the time not just in good conditions you will have sore feet to deal with. there are many products but some dogs just have more tender feet than others too.

not for nuthing but this helps when they are very bad:

We use gentian violet blue cote every day as maintenance. i prefer tough hoof to the tough foot its stronger but thats just to maintain them but it really doesnt do much after the fact. once they are sore try this.

soak in a warm bath and peroxide rinse to really get them clean inspect cracks and dry well if they look rashy she could have yeast - try spray on anti fungal (athleats foot spray works.) let dry and use new skin to coat open cracks. you can also use the furicin dust over the new skin and try to keep her feet dy while healing. if she has to run every day then that clean em spray newskin dust might be needed everyday to keep her going.
also if they look red or swollen (like pus) beyond just beat up there might be infection a prophylactic round of antibiotics could be needed. next look at the overall conditon of the dog, hows she eating if they dont eat they cant heal. check her gums and teeth if she has a secondary infection she cant heal well either if shes wormy or her coats not real shiney worm her - tape worms picked up from fleas off game animalsbbb can really bring a dogs condition down fast. then I like to give B12 to dogs 1 cc weekly sub Cutaneous as a supplement when they work really hard. ups the appitite too she will heal better if she is in better overall condition.

We have had some big hearted mediocre footed females that would run every day that needed special foot care. they do heal faster at rest but toughen up better if rested then worked again regularly. its just a thought

Twist, same problem we had in wi all winter, the challenge was not the pads as much as around the toes. I dont care what color of dog you ran. I bought four bottles of pad heal, put it in a small coffee can, put his whole foot in it, and that really helped, put the lid back on the can, to save and use again. Be sure to keep the nails trimmed, and I also gave them 3cc of pen. under the skin, to prevent infection, and also helped the swelling.
