Going to AZ to hunt--leaving 2/12/2010 for 2-3 week hunt.
Any suggestions as to where to go?
Have hunted Young, Alpine, Springerville---will have mules and Tereyx, + 4-wheel truck--??
Would not mind hunting some lower country, or where the moutains start into the desert?
Open to suggestions, or would meet for a hunt?

Help me here? Where is Clines Corner, AZ? Google cannot find and Mapquest won't pull it up? I think I have been through there, but thought it was around Stafford and cannot find on map?

I'm 1200 miles away but several years ago I hunted quial for a week down on the mexico / new mexico corner out of Safferd. It was really nice country and we tracked a few cats around. I have no idea about how the hunting presure there is but it's been a place I hope to go try someday.

I just spent a week down south of Tucson Az the end of Jan, the country was nice, lots of game, but lots of TRAFFIC, found 3 different tracks, but the dogs couldn't work them, I am guessing too old. One of my dogs bluffed out on sometrack, I don't know guessing probably a hot ringtail scent caught his attention. Lemme tell you it was hairy as hell getting him down. But I do my best. There were lots of mountains and low land to hunt, also a lot of border patrol. If you would like a contact, he may not like me saying so, but AZLONGEARS knows a lot of that south end of the state. He was quite a nice guy to boot. You may give him a shout. SW

Want to thank everyone for their input and comments.
Hunted three diff. areas of AZ with some good hunts. Snow was pretty deep in high country, but had some success. Treed two out of three lions struck, with last lion causing quite a problem! Had heard of term "Bronco" lion from Mr. Ron Moore, but guess I got to run one down on the "Blue". GPS showed just under 11 miles, treed twice and only got glimpse of lion once, when he bailed from tree the first time treed. Lion bluffed out on me, and pulled dogs off about 4:00 PM to start to get back out of mountains.
Heard from other hunters that they had also experienced this type of behavior on occasion with thoughts that lion had been ran before and not taken by hunter?
Anyway, was tough hunt, couldn't fault my hounds---snow was pretty deep on NW slopes and ended up leading my mule more then I rode him!
Took a female lion that weighed 140# and was judged to be 4-5 years old. Nice lion.
Thanks again,

Glad you had a good time down here Clyde. Sorry we never met up to try Queen out, things got busy.
How bout some pics of that 140# female? That would be a state record female if that is true, they just don't get that big down here, especially where you caught it. Was she fat off a kill? Congrats again.

Some photos of lion taken, per request.
Uploaded photos for first time, so see how it works.
David Griner owns Outdoor Adventures Hunting and talked me into taking him cat hunting. We really wanted to get into some good bobcat races? But never struck a bobcat in 2 & 1/2 weeks of hunting. Oh well, we did tree this lion and one small lion and saw some treat country.
Wished we could have met and spent time with all the guys that contacted me about hunts and hunting places. I will be hunting West Texas at end of March and through April, is anyone wants to come and hunt, let me know?

Im not trying to bust your balls but i doubt there is a female lion in az anywhere near 140. Most toms are that or less. Most females are around 70-80 lbs.
