A bobcat will go in a cage that big, width is not much of an issue, have caught some in an 8 x 18 trap, of the traps I have used 10" or 12" wide by 18" high seem to work good. Last year I didn't have many traps so I would through this little havaheart out and hope to get a fox...this isn't a huge cat but he did crawl into that little trap and only one door was open. I brush mine in pretty good, keeps the critters from trying to get at the bait. I use jack rabbits and cut them up for bait, better check your trapping regs to see what is legal, hope this helps.

We freeze our rabbits and chop them up in quarters. It works good.
