Folding antenna for Garmin

Ordered on E Bay a small folding antenna for my Astro.
Got it Saturday and drove away from one collar using the rubber duckie.
When I lost signal with the rubber duckie I installed the small double folding antenna and started receiving signal from the collar.
After several tries using both antennas, I have determined that the small folding antenna gets about double the range as the rubber duckie.

Here is a link to the site for the antennas:

have that one and works great. Only bad thing is if you break the antenna your kind of SOL... But it does fold up very nice. Does anyone know where you can get extra antennas like this?

I read of people over tightening the antennas and breaking something inside the unit. Seems these long antennas would make it easier to damage the unit because of the leverage if the antenna was bumped while extended. Any experience?

While retracted is this antenna comparable to the stock rubber antenna as far as range?
