So do you think this yote is a wolf/yote cross like we hear about or had some other type of dog in it?

I have never seen a black coyote, very interesting. My dad is the goverment trapper in southern utah and caught a albino coyote about 12 years ago. H has it mounted in a glass case in his house, It is very cool. Anyways a black one is new to me Ive never heard of one before. Nice mount too

Very rare in cool indeed. I have taken albino coons, and did see a snow white albino coyote one time near Farson, Wyoming. These mutations are always intersting and this gene can be passed on.

Mike why in the world would you be in farson?

I have seen one up here one time. Dad and I were out legging up our rope horses riding at the foot of a ridge line. My horse was acting up with me and at the time I was around 8 or 9 so dad got off his horse and I stood there holding him while dad took my horse for an attitude adjustment and I saw on black and one gray running together. Being that young and never been hunting I was sure they were two wolves. LOL

Here is the one I posted before under the coyote/wolves subject. Hard to believe they are the same species huh ? Both were taken in Maine .(Maine/NH border) It kind of proves what the studies have shown. There are several different genetic makeups in northeastern coyotes.

Bob, thats a friends mount, not mine .(But I would love to have it)

I have actually seen a couple black ones myself but have never taken one.

Ike, I dont know. It looks more coyote than wolf to me.The color makes you wonder though doesnt it? The wolfy looking ones that I have seen seem to have bigger blockier heads .In my opinion anyways.Like this one below.

Cool Deal. I know some guys around here shot one about 7 years ago.

While it does look wolfish, it's no wolf. A wolf that size would be just a pup and would be all legs and lanky. And usually around here a wolf pup would be the size of a coyote by about mid August. It would be much bigger by trapping season in the fall.
