I talked with one of their reps a few weeks ago. He told me fall. He also told me that it would be a combo unit. GPS and Telem.

And twice the price of the Garman if it follows the prices of their beeper stuff.

Copied this of the Prohound forum

I talked to the Marshall hound rep today and he said they plan to have their unit ready in time for Autumn Oaks. The release has been postponed due to some changes being made to the prototype. It will be a combination gps/telemetry unit. The gps will be like an I pod that fits in your shirt pocket. It will be touch screen. When it is turned on there is no menu to scroll through. It will go straight to the tracking screen and each time a collar is turned on it will come up on the screen. There will be satellite imagery not topo. The signal will be real life time on screen not every so many seconds. The collar will be a combination collar gps/telementry. It will be slightly wider that their current Marshall collar and will hold 3 batteries not 2. A one dog unit he said will be under $1,000. The telementry range will be 3 times stronger than the current marshall unit. The gps range will be much increased as well over the garmin.

I call BS to that! Unless Marshal figured out how to flatten the Earth. Line of site is just that. We'll see for sure when they come out.

I't will be intresting to see this unit when it does come out.

I would like to know how long the batteries are going to last in Gps mode because it could get real expensive if its only a few days.

Also not sure about satellite imagery because when i go on google earth for areas that i hunt not everything shows up.

As far as range garmin claims 7 miles but most people get about 1.5 miles so that would probally put marshall at around 3 miles, LoL

I'm still hoping for Garmin to release a DC40 collar by this summer, but who knows Marshall could get it right the first time out if they listened to all the complaints about the Astro.

Thanks for saying that. You read my mind about the range!

In the conversations that I have had with Marshall, NO mention of increased GPS range was made. Other reasonable claims have been made and I look forward to seeing thier Units in action.

I have heard that the Price Point might take you breath away, but that it will be worth it?

i have heard all those things. the hold on the debue is getting the bugs out before they become available unlike what they did with the collars. it will be a field marshall and an ipod. the drive off test on the gps maxed at 30 miles.

I wish a rep from Marshall would chime in and give us some Idea of what is comming out. I think alot of people are waiting to see what Marshall and Garmin is going to do. If Garmin fixes the loss of range problem and comes out with a upgraded system then I dont think Marshall will have a chance.

if garmin would fix the range problem so they all worked the same i would allready own one. get a couple miles not expecting 5 or ten 10 miles every time with differant country like canyons or mountains it would not be possable but if you got 2 or 3 garmins tracking same dogs and all are loosing signals at diffrant ranges. 1 gets 900 1 gets 1.5 miles and one guy thinks its funny couse he still has them at 3 or 4 miles thats shitty when your the guy thats got 900 yards . and i dont want to be the guy with only 900 yards
