You can sure tell the lion season is winding down

Amazing as it may seem time flies by and it is easy to see that the bulk of the lion season is over in most places as the forum topics slow to a crawl.Switch to bears and things liven up just as the spring flowers do.
It is a cycle and it is enjoyable to see all aspects of hound hunting and enjoyment.
I wish all of you hounders a great year with your pups and enjoy this training season it is the foundation of all things that come after. For you spring bear hunters that have the chance get after them skinny tennis shoe wearing rascals. Us old lion hunters down here will just keep riding where we can and wishing for the best. Most of the deer and elk are heading up country and that means few lion tracks but we get some miles and some training and once in a blue moon we get the trail of one who likes to hand around and taste a little beef or mutton.
Sure is great however any time you can get out with the dogs and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Take some kids out when you can , we try to do that and let them get a taste of the outdoors and some quiet and nature. Most kids today have noise around then 24/7

Know exactly the way you feel...as said earlier well put!!
Think about makin time one spring that will allow you to come and get in on a hunt with us when I have a client that wants to catch a Leopard .
It's a great way to fill in the hole when the seasons are done here....and to see some new country and watch some hounds hunt in some pretty amazing terrain and conditions...not to mention lookin at a big ol spotted cat with a dozen hounds working the tree or cave mouth with alot of roarin going on inside..
I'll keep in touch and when I am down your way in Oct. I hope to find time to stop by and see your hounds....maybe comendere a pup that needs a home!!!!!!!!
We're still workin at getting a couple more lions treed for the project, good snow here tonight ,hope to send an update by this time tomarrow...
Good Huntin

Brent,
I would love that I get a thrill just thinking about it. I always dreamed of a jaguar hunt not so much for the trophy but for the adventure and memories, that is looking more and more unlikely as the restrictions grown tighter and tensions in many Central and So. American countries make such adventures very limited.
the leopard however offers as much or more challenge and I would say depending on the area hunted the element of danger is even more pronounced.
I will keep that on my to do list. LOL!

It's a great time to be in the field Leonard, and a couple buddies and I loaded the mules and went lion hunting just to enjoy the spring weather and the hounds. Nothing quit like riding that mule and having the hounds strike, then finding a lion track under those hounds' tracks, just to listen to that hound music. Good luck to you as well as the spring unfolds...........cause there will be tons of lion and bear hunting in the coming months! wink:

I've been noticing that the lion posts have all but stopped. As a newbie here, I've gotta say that I wasn't quite prepred for that. Mike you pin pionted it for me - thanks. This is the time of year that I always dread. I look back and realize that I should have made that one trip that I put off. I've got some private country and some doors opening in Texas, so maybe I can still make a short circle now and again.

Well Benny open that circle up a little bit and when you come a whipping and spurring by here I will just throw in with you and we will go looking for arrowheads or something. Wink!
Good job on that mule Ike! I been looking at one of those and by golly I sure think they would fit a whole lot hunting. My buddy Al has one but holy smokes you better hang on when he gets on it! LOL!

Hey Mike if you ever feel a need to head an hour south I got some ground that I would love to see what a good dry ground strike dog would find there. I got my dogs handling pretty good now and have been taking alot of "hikes" just to give the dogs some exercise. I got access to alot of private ground and would love for you to show me how it works when you and the hounds really know what your doin!lol

Anybody know who this hombre is? For some reason he was pointing at the ground where something had piled up a bunch of pine needles? Then this old cowboy ask me if I knew which way that tom was going....yea, no shit! I told him if the Wolf Pack couldn't tell nobody could.....

Bitch lion track.......

Rui Li and one of her ten month old female pups out of my red Choco dog hunting lions.......

My red Choco after a tough day (multiple days) dirt lion hunting..........
And contrary to popular belief I didn't do much hunting with all that fluffy white stuff on the ground but rather have reached full stride now that the ground is opening up, and it's gonna be a great spring, summer and fall!
