Post by Trailhound »

My Garmin astro handheld has stoped picking up the collars this is a brand new unit less than a week old work great when i first got it no exposure to radio at all hasn't even been on a dog.

Any one have a similar problem i can communicate with collar but the hanheld just wont pick-up gps singnal from collar.

I thought it was the collar but my friend has a astro and my collar works fine on his any suggestions would be great, going to talk to garmin tomorrow.

try to just turn every thing on and sit it on a table outside side by side. Mine sometimes takes up to five minutes but it is a lot quicker to do it this way than letting the dogs run around with the collars on. I could never get my unit to pick up the collars that way. And once the unit picks up the collars in the woods for the first time, mine always picks them up quick after that, until the unit is off for a few days and in a completely different area. Hope this works for you.

Check that your antenna is screwed in well.
I'm going to the dogs.

I also have heard of guys over-tightening the ants. and breaks the connection on the inside of the unit.

Thanks for the tips i managed to get it working again by doing a master reset and adding and deleting the collar a bunch of times.

I will half to see how long it lasts now.
