Nice pictures. Wish we could run lions in Ca. Miss the old days of seeing a lion in the tree.

I don't know how you guys resist doing it anyway? what is the penalty? how do they prove that you weren't runnin bear or hog and the dogs trashed on one? also what is thier hang up with chasin lions anyway? what is their justification.

Prop 117. Makes it illegal to hunt/pursue lions. Cant even bring a dead lion in from another state. Our wardens up here HATE houndsmen and would just love to find one with a lion in a tree.

Wish we still had year round season here but I guess it could be worse... Anyhow September is not too far away... I have a new pup 6 months old and he is more than ready to be hunting but he is going to have to wait until August for bobcats and fox and Septempber for the lions. He did get to tree a ring-tailed cat all by himself a few days ago inside the orchard and looked good.

Nice Pictures. There still areas in Arizona that are open to lion hunting year round with some restrictions. Also lion season this year opens Aug 20th with the archery deer hunt.

Changed again?! Well atleast I learned about it before the season started this year lol. Also see it closes on the 19th of may next year.... Guess I better read the regs better. I realy don't see why they can't just have the old year round season... its not like alot of lions are killed during those 3 hot months.
Maybe they are trying to force hunters to try those muli-bag areas?
I don't want to spend the money and time it would take to travel all across the state trying to hunt those multi bag limit areas.

LoL Robb I only hunt 3 canyons and my home canyon mainly so there are still plenty of lions in the Huachucas. Don't let those rummors fool you we only killed 3 lions way back in March... not every lion on the mtn as the people boycotting our orchard and guest ranch would have everyone believe.
I still have my tag... let some friends and my dad make the kills when we decided the deer population was dropping too fast around the house. Two were started less than 1/4 mile from the orchard so these lions were coming into high traffic areas. There was also a horse clawed while being led on a trail in the canyon, the rider said she screamed real loud and the lion ran off after jumping on the back of a 2 year old horse. Hopefully one of those three lions was that one.
The highway is done now past Miller canyon and they have Nickville and the Hereford road traffic light lit up like a big city main street

Gotta love progress...
