I had one monday, one tuesday, and two tomorrow. Thank god we are almost done for a while. Nice to see there are some college age guys out here. I dont know anyone my age around here that runs hounds. But all we have to run out here is coons so nothing too exciting like a lion or bear. Good luck guys.

If you wanna call it that. Personally I'm gettin my tail kicked by a damn 120 lb tom. had him jumped the first day we could actually trail him and he snuck out of a boulder pile. time i made a circle we were too far behind. he's never in the same place twice and now he's just dissappeared i think he moved on. tired of hearing the dogs bark i guess i don't know. wherever i go it's wrong if i go up top of the mountain he's crossed down low. One day i covered the front of the mountain top to bottom never found a track on my drag, 3 oclock that after noon on the other side of the mountain on the way home i found his tracks in and out in a damn sand wash the dogs could trail him on the brush put they couldn't move it on the ground we trailed him till dark and called her quits. haven't cut a track in 3 days so he's probably got a kill somewhere that he's sittin on. might have to go up and find some white stuff to hunt in (i sure hope not, i HATE the snow).
did get a nice bob day after christmas, might need somebody to come show me how it's done. I don't think my dogs can catch a lion anymore

you'll be fine. If finding tracks is getting tough next time you find a track in the afternoon walk one of them out. You never know you may walk up on a kill. Chances are you may have lost the scent for the afternoon but its a good starting point for walking in the morning.
We treed another today and had a buddy take it with his permit.

thanks

ya the ones i found that afternoon i walked em out before we put dogs down. i was hoping to find a kill but I think he was just out hunting he walked up a wash and then got on a human trail so it was pretty easy to follow for a long time but once he got off the trail and on the rocky bare ground he was gone.

question for ya, is it common for a lion to walk out on top of his own tracks? I mean like exactly on top of their tracks. this guy had tracks going both ways and they were backed up pad to pad like he was trailing himself out or something it was weird  . I've had em double back on me when running em but he was just walking down a canyon most likely out strolling for something to eat.

congrats on taking one is that the first of 08? how big was he?
