i just watched a cool vid were the dogs had on a video camera you could watch it all it was really really cool! my question is were do i get one or do i have to build it myself?

Over on You Tube there are some Boar Hunts from Spain and France with the Collar Video Cam System.

Great Idea.....Bad in Practice. All you tend to see is a blur with stuff going by...then a Bayup that is real Blurry.

There is one clip of the Hounds running in more open Country that is pretty neat...otherwise fun to talk about....not something that I want to try.

Now an Audio Transmitter...that is something that would be real neat!

I have been looking into this for a while. I finally have received permission from the Boss Lady to get the camera. There are some really nice light weight helmet cameras out now. I couldn't find anything online for mounting the camera on a dog so I may have to build it. I have been really excited to try it, and I am hoping to have some video when I start hunting again. It should be interesting. If any one does see anything that is currently working please post it. I have not been able to find anything that is made for it. Thanks.

I bought an ATC3K this spring and tried it on bear. Never did get any decent footage. Tried a collar mount under the chin and it swung around too much. Then I tried a mount under the chest on a harness. It worked better but still too much motion. Couple problems are is it only stays on for 20 mins and the lens gets dirty fast. I may try it again but still need to work out a better mount.

It sounds silly and would probably look funny, but I had in mind a head mounted camera. They make helmet cams for motorcycles, surfing, skiing, etc. The cameras are enclosed in a small housing that protects them. The battery life is over 5 hours I believe. Mounted on the head would absorb more of the shaking and probably make for better video. The camera I had in mind was a little better than the ATC3K, and makes decent video. I do not know if it will work but I think it is worth a shot. Could make some good video. It would most likely be 4 hours of cruddy video for 10 seconds of something worth watching. I shall try it this winter. Could you imagine a system that would transmit the audio and video about a mile or so in real time, not likely today, but I bet it will happen someday.

I think it would be pretty tough to ever get any decent footage. Everything you get will be way too jerky. If you've ever done any videoing yourself you know how hard it is to keep the camera steady enough to capture viewable footage. And thats with a camera that has some type of steady shot or motion limiting ability. Its a great idea but I don't think the technology is there just yet.

do you have any military buddies willing to loose equipment?

i just went to active topic and saw the title "how many dogs you need to run a bear" and a guy had a link to the video it was pretty cool but i could see how it would get dirty fast and shaky but i think it would be worth it to get that 10 seconds of video or sound of tour dogs and what there doing maybe one day someone will think of something that will work and thanks to all the input its helped me out .

I think it is pretty cool when the dog is following the bear. A head mount would absorb alot of the shock and sway. That is what necks are for. I have to try it.
